Of these choices, Arnold even though he's 76 and long in the tooth himself. But yeah, Biden and Trump in the main event is like CM Punk vs. Mike Jackson and winner gets to be POTUS.

Lol @ the amount of John Stewart votes.

He's just a comedian with a staff of writers for his jokes.
I think he’s more than that. Through the years, he’s done well in discussions and debates, he’s a sharp, knowledgeable guy.
And he gets big props for his tireless work getting medical care for 9/11 first responders. Remember the day he ripped Congress a new asshole when he showed up to lobby Congress, with sick and dying 9/11 first responders with him, and almost no one from Congress showed up? That will always have my respect.

Other

Newsom/Whitmer ticket
Strongly disagree about Newsom on a ticket. I think he'd probably be a decent president in terms of policy, but I'd guess that his administration would be mired in scandal. And realistically, I think he'd be really unlikely to win (any major-party nominee has a chance, but he'd be very weak).

My view of Stewart is that he doesn't understand how politics works and doesn't really understand policy. He obviously has no experience in gov't, which is an underrated liability.

Something that I think illustrates the value of politics as a profession is the long-sought infrastructure deal. Obama wanted one, figured Republicans did to, got a team to put together a good bill, and failed to get past GOP obstruction. Trump wanted one and said it would be a priority, but he lacked the organizational competence to put together a good bill that Republicans would fight for. Biden put one together and was able to get it through, in part by leveraging existing relationships, in part by keeping it under the radar so Republicans didn't feel he was getting a big win. I think Stewart would fail at something like that in both the way Obama did and the way Trump did.

In general people (and I think Stewart specifically) misunderstand the reason things don't happen, attributing it too often to corruption.

1. Bernie Sanders
2. Pete Buttigieg
3. Gavin Newsom

I think you are wrong about Newsom being a weak nominee.

Presidential races are about popularity more than anything. Something the DNC has been struggling to understand with the last 2x elections. They dumped an incredibly popular Bernie in favor of incredibly unpopular Hilary and it cost them 2016, they dumped him again in favor of Biden in 2020 and it nearly cost them that too. The only thing that saved them was the fact that a majority of Americans hate Trump. Understanding policy is great, but it means nothing if you can't get elected. Biden is ancient, like - the grim reaper is constantly present in the corner of his eye - ancient, and the only thing keeping him afloat is the dislike for Trump. Newsome is young, handsome and charismatic, that alone makes him more electable than either of the current candidates.

Oh and he used to bang Trump's daughter-in-law:

Which is hilarious

Good list:

I think most of these people would be better than Trump/ Biden:

RFK (my vote)
Elon Musk
Tulsi G
Dana
Rogan
The Rock
Arnold

Pretty much the entire list. Except maybe Pete Buttigieg who accomplished nothing and George Cloney who plays dress up for a living.

There's no "they" with power to affect the races. Hillary and Biden beat Bernie because they were more popular, and Bernie would have done worse in the general than either did. Newsom, similarly, would not appeal to swing voters (or, obviously, Republicans). Big-city, educated liberals like him because he's one of them, but his appeal is narrower than someone like Biden or Whitmer's.

Also, people don't like to admit this, but Trump aside, you usually don't rise to the top in politics unless you keep your nose clean, and Newsom just isn't that guy. He's not as corrupt as Trump, but he is over the line for a normal politician with presidential aspirations, and that's only considering stuff we know about. I'd bet there's more we don't and more to come. He's my governor, and I'm happy with his performance, but this is as high as the elevator goes for him.

You put Elon Musk, Dana White, Joe Rogan and The Rock ahead of Pete Buttigieg? You cannot be a serious person.

That list doesn't look much better than reality.
Americans should try electing competence on the basis of effective legislation and management, instead of celebrity, wealth or political dynasties.
Of course that'd make your politics a lot more boring, but something might actually get done.
