He would make Askren look slow and uncoordinated. He would win the fight.

Askren is like Jake Shields minus the great bjj. His striking is nonexistent.
 
UFC will offer him a better deal than the competition, he's to good and would give a lot of credibility to another org.
 
ufc should not let him go , hes very entertaining .... Solid fighter
 
ild like to see him at 170 and 155 in bellator, Smooth vs Chandler, Brooks, Lima, ect great fights

UFC won't resign him, and if they do it would be at the minimum.

He's dispensable, they won't make the same mistake like did with Melendez.
 
I'd actually pick him against Askren and if he left the UFC and did just that, I bet DW wouldn't hold it against him.

I'm curious to what level they view Melendez as a mistake. In my mind he is one of the very few non-champions to get a great contract and i'm sure that the UFC wishes they could have kept him for cheaper, but to keep him from improving another orgs talent i'm not sure its a full on loss.

I'd rather barely beat Jay Heiron two years into my fighting career than lose to Luciano Azevedo like Aldo did after a year of being a pro.

Askren beats Benson by split decision. No matter how hard people want to cling to a fight when he was still green or want to focus on the first 2 1/2 minutes of a 25 minute fight.
 
Makes sense for him to leave. Got his ass whooped by the top 2 lightweights and he'll never get near a belt at 170

Go to Bellator and take the LW title
