News Benson Henderson retired

One of the great LWs of this era. Was the champion of WEC when they had a better LW division than UFC than did the same in UFC. Probably wasn't as appreciated, at the time, as he should've been. Always exciting to watch.

Best of luck in his future endeavours.

He is a legit good guy, even if the shout outs to God and entrance music rustled some Jimmies. I remember after he beat Varner for the belt he went back home and ran his parents liquor store the following Monday. Sucks to see classy vets go out like that. You (general) may not like Benson but you should respect him. He's got a very underrated resume, and is a legitimately positive representation of Mixed Martial Arts.

His fights with Frankie are all.the evidence necessary for a person with a functioning brain to acknowledge him as an all time great.

I’m a Bendo fan but he was done a long while ago. Glad to see him finally hang it up.

He went over to Bellator way passed his prime. LOL @ he wasn't quite good enough to the win Bellator belt.

Your post is shite.
All of his posts are shite. There's a reason he's on the ol ignore list.

Big fan of Bendo here. Loved his grappling style and scrambling ability. He seemed like the perfect style to beat Pettis but I have to give props to Anthony because that was a tight armbar in the second fight.

Maybe Jake Paul will call him out. Seems like his ideal candidate:
  • 39 years old and 10 years past his prime when lost his UFC belt
  • Two weight classes lower
  • Never a great boxer and definitely doesn't have much KO power
I think you're on to something, Hess! ;)'

Great career.

I assume it's only his MMA retirement and we'll still see him in grappling matches.
Hopefully that, and not bareknuckle boxing. Pardon the pun, but it often times feels like only "knuckleheads" get into that. ;)'

That's how I started watching mma, those versus cards. I was in like 6th or 7th grade and that shit blew my mind
Still remember watching Faber break both hands and fight Mike brown to a decision with just his elbows like it was yesterday
Sad to see that era all retiring
Time sucks
<mma1>
It's funny how nostalgia works. I just turned forty-four on Tuesday, and literally started watching "MMA" when I orderd the first-ever UFC event on PPV. I was only fourteen, so didn't have a job, yet. I would get five dollars per week as an allowance to do basic household chores, so I begged my stepmother for an advance so I could order it -- the events were only $14.99 back then! She agreed, and I was hooked after the first aired fight (Gordeau vs. Tuli). I'm so old that I wish the UFC still released their events on DVD/Blu-ray, so I could own physical copies of all of them. I have about a hundred UFC, Pride and other smaller promotions' events on DVD. lol
