I'll compile a list of a few dozen threads like this one.

Here, someone seems to be baffled why lifting weights at an angle with a lever is easier than lifting a free-moving weight straight up against gravity. With a little research, we can find that Archimedes solved this riddle 2300 years ago. But here it is on the front page of S&C.

Anyway, when I have a bunch of these to refer to, I'll try making the case for a way to prevent these threads from choking out the interesting, topical, and informative ones in S&C like so many weeds in a garden.
