someone that was so dominant during his winstreak that people called him boring. Was finishing fights and shaving years off of the opponents' lives.

Condescending, spoiled white brat who talked too much and paid for it.

This.

Askren talked a lot about how great he was when he had zero top 20 wins. Then he "beat" Lawler, taunted the entire UFC, and got put unconscious twice. Really 3 times, counting the Lawler fight.

He was never a top fighter. He'd probably not be a top fighter in Bellator these days either. If he'd bothered to learn to strike it could have been different, but Masvidal was right. He only knows how to dive for crotches.

At least his UFC run gave him access to a quality buffet, provided by Masvidal out of the kindness of his heart

A hypejob who's fans thought he was the GOAT. He chose One over the UFC for a reason.
He wasn’t given a choice. Dana sent him packing before he even got started to pick up more qualified fighters like CM Punk. It was a crime that he didn’t get in after his Bellator run. The UFC was scared that a boring wrestler from Bellator was going to make them look bad imo. A lot of people are shitting on him now but he beat some legit competition during his run and made it look easy. He finally got his shot six years later after he retired. Six years can be a lifetime in this game.

Should have been in the UFC a long time before he was.

Honestly, beat up a bunch of cans in Asia, came to the big league and got quickly humbled.

That said, he seems like a fun guy, he took his defeats well, and at least he tried life in the UFC unlike some jokers like MVP who claim they are great but dont have the balls to play in the big boys ball pool.

He's brought some fun to the last few months and the UFC will be a little bit duller without him

I like him. Great sense of humour and a fantastic wrestler. Beat Douglas Lima, Andrey Koreshkov, and Robbie Lawler. Didn't have the striking to be a truly elite MMA fighter, but would have liked to see him 5 years ago in the UFC.

100%

Yet another overrated guy from outside the UFC who got thoroughly exposed.

none of those really, always thought he was just a doosh with a big chin and goofy face.

i guess annoying would be my option.

u forgot to put an option for the funky smell he left behind on the way out the door

He has good wins and his wrestling is very good but imo he talked himself up even more Like some world class wrestler and that he hasnt been for many years.

Also he only has humour regarding talking about other people but cant take a joke.

Maia is in a whole other level and prime Lawler,Hendricks , koscheck,GSP..etc would have brutalized him. I would have liked to see him vs good wrestler in MMA in the UFC.

Wish him the best in retirement. Its a good time for that

Fastest ufc knockout victim.

I don’t believe he should have a win over Robbie Lawler either, but it’s kinda poetic justice how the next two fights went after he said there was no point running it back.

I think he caught some good guys early in their careers before they had to develop good wrestling. I think he loses to most of his best wins in a rematch.

Lima just got wrestlefucked like a year and a half ago. By a one legged man no less.

His UFC fights were all exciting, for a supposed lay and prayer this surprised me.

Before regaining the belt and out wrestling the same person he lost it to in both of their most recent fights?

Not the greatest example.
