A former WSOF champion is headed back to Bellator.

Georgi Karakhanyan, the former WSOF featherweight champion, has signed a multi-fight contract with Bellator, according to promotion officials. Karakhanyan returns to Bellator after most recently losing the WSOF 145-pound title to Rick Glenn in June. The details surrounding his next fight have yet to be determined.

This marks Karakhanyan's second stint with Bellator. He had a record of 2-2 in the promotion in 2010-2011.

"Bellator has one of the most stacked 145-pound divisions," Karakhanyan said in a statement provided by the promotion. "I love to challenge myself, and they have plenty to offer in Pat (Curran), (Daniel) Strauss, Bubba (Jenkins). Bubba and I are cool, but it's business. The up-and-comer (Goiti) Yamauchi ... but really what did it for me was 'Pitbull' becoming the champion. Don't get me wrong, he is a great fighter. I have a lot of respect for him as a competitor, but I also have a loss to him, one that I am not ready to put behind me.

"So it's the perfect story. Everyone wants a belt, everyone wants to get to the top, every fighter wants to avenge his loss. I get to do that all in one fight, when I become Bellator 145 champion and add yet another belt to my collection."

The 29-year-old returns to Bellator with a 23-4-1 record. His recent loss snapped a nine-fight winning streak.

Good signing despite the loss to Glenn. FW is Bellator's best division (imo) and there are a lot of good fights left for Georgi.

Good pickup, gives them another decent FW.

And people said fighters won't leave wsof for bellator

Money talks, people said most would go to WSOF instead of bellator to then jump to UFC, doubt with his loss to Glenn the UFC was knocking down his door now that his contract with WSOF was up.

Had he kept the WSOF title then it might have been a different story, UFC could have wanted him or WSOF could have offered him more money since he would have been their champ.

He strengthens the division- but has no chance of winning the belt.

I'm not too upset, suffered that loss but Bellator could use some more mid-tier to upper-tier guys. Its pretty much Straus, Curran, and Pitbull then the rest the division.

Gives them a guy that is fun to watch and fills out the roster a bit.

Great! He can be in the next tournam..... ohh:icon_cry2

Wow I'm shocked that he would come back. This is a great pick up for Bellator. Featherweight is their best division no doubt

Good pickup. Wouldn't mind a match with curran

Georgi is an okay fighter, nothing extremely special, don't see him making waves in the division

Good signing. He is better than half the guys they have, or more, so of course it's good.

This is a good pick up for Bellator. Strengthens their already awesome FW division.

Joe Warren beat him? If Warren is able to beat Dantas he's got to be Bellator's GOAT

Its crazy to think but I mean; Warren would have won two tourneys at 135 and 145. Won the belts in both divisions as well.

I don't think he tops Alvarez/Askren/Lombard at that point but it would honestly be a toss up.

Warren ain't as bad as people like to trash him for. I think he's good for Bellator.

Mostly yeah.. But Rampage makes your statement not fully correct.

Rampage was released by the UFC prior to signing with Bellator. He was released by request but still released. Kongo on the other hand was offered a contract, though a greatly reduced contract by the UFC and he opted to sign with Bellator. Though he is making half of what he did in the UFC.
