Bellator is going down hill since Coker took over imo.

Give Coker some time... This is stil Bjorns season, with Bjorns 10 consecutive weeks, and Bjorns stable of fighters...

2015 is the year of the Coker. Not 2014.

Exactly. Next year is when things get interesting. In a weekly format Bellator doesn't have the talent to put on shows that stand out on a weekly basis. The tournament helped with that, made fights more meaningful.

But the simple reality is that UFC is growing globally and with the amount of shows they put on it won't be easy for Bellator to sign groomed and ready prospects. They'll have to build them up.

Right now though what is the difference between one Bellator show to the next? The ratings have stayed the same and that's good it means they have a good little following. But they aren't making anything of the shows, they don't sell tickets and when they do they are cheap as fuck.

Nothing stands out. But next season? The shows will feel like events. You have to tune in to see. There already loyal fan base will stay but so to will casuals.

They'll make more money this way. So to me its the right call, Bellator doesn't have the talent to go weekly and the tournament format done in these amounts? As shown didn't work.

Don't need to see Jansen get fucked anymore. Don't need to see them pretend Vegh is hurt so they can do Mo/Newton. Don't need to see Daley go into a tourney instead of just facing their champion.

I think they could still do tourneys, just much-much more rare.

But UFC put a lot of waters down cards....i guess that will be the main difference the next year....Bellator setting fews and stacked cards, on oppositte UFC puts a lot of cards, but the most of them will be weak

I think that Coker will eventually steer the ship away from weekly cards and more towards maybe 6 cards a year, with SF/EliteXC-style freakshows and mismatches, with some quality fights sprinkled inbetween, heavily favoring strikers over grapplers, and cashing in on recognizable names rather than developing new talent.

I'm enjoying Bellator for what it is. No need to pretend to be the top org, just keep making fun fights and I'll tune in. I personally think the concept of "seasons" in a combat sport is retarded.

Lets see the types of shows they put on when the shows are monthly, instead of weekly. When they move to that format they need to go to 5 or 6 main card fights though. They'll probably be able to put on a title fight for every card, sometimes two. I think we will continue to see fights like Newton/Beltran and Newton/Vassell but id rather see an active champ and im sure we will still get the deserving #1 contenders as well. Its just not "Bellator where title shots are earned" any more.

Sorry but wasn't Coker present when Newton and Liam faced off in the cage? Then why the hell is Liam not getting the fuk'n title shot? This is Coker and his team of idiots making these decisions. Liam earned the title shot and should be the 1 to fight Newton next.

So is Coker's fault Liam doesn't want to fight so soon?

"The tournament format is what made it unique and entertaining."

**whines that nobody has heard of the SEASON 10 TOURNAMENT WINNER that beat Storm**

OK, guy.

i like the new version way better.

Bellator 130 is just a few weeks away on October 24.

The promotion needed a main event, and Newton was contractually owed a fight fairly soon.

There was likely long-term booking for Newton vs Liam to take place on this card anyway, and Newton agreed to fight on the 24th.

Liam requested some more time off because he was a bit banged up.

Exactly how is it Coker's fault, or Viacom's fault, or Serg Salinas' fault, that Liam needed a break to get healthy?

He still has his #1 contender shot, and will face the winner of this bout.

Again, Bellator needed a main event. A Bellator champ was available and needed a fight.

Coker had cards at the end of the year that needed some fights...

Newton is known to be requesting activity for paydays, asks for a fight on one of the cards...

Liam says he wants some time off since he just did a tournament...

Coker brings in the best guy willing to fight on 4 weeks notice...

Rocket surgery.

Im fking amped for Bellator 130 now, Newton vs Vassell is actually a damn good fight, as is Jansen vs Hawn.

Just had to quote this so people can see

It was a slow erosion after Viacom took over, thru the Bjorn era w/ his strong voice still in the company.

Then once the Coker era started, the process has sped up dramatically, with Scott as a puppet allowing Viacom do to pretty much whatever they wanted without a fight. Either they are angling to sell or are more incompetent about MMA than I even previously believed.

Totally agree Bellator has become a fuk'n joke since Coker took over. Rebney must be laughing his a$$ off at the brainless decisions Coker and his team have come up with. Instead of Bellator moving forward to compete against the UFC they have moved down more than a few notches. At this rate we will surely see Bellator fold up and close down completely within the next year or 2.

Love these anti-Bellator Zuffa Zombie stealth posts.

Keep up the good work.

Love these blatant anti-reading comprehension posts. He's pro Rebney era unlike an anti-Bellator/ZZ would be.

Keep up the good work.

The format wasn't creating new stars or making the company money. They made a change. Now everyone loved Rebney? He made tournaments as bland as a washroom wall.

Keep spinning though.

Didn't everyone hate Rebney for like the past year and a half?
