Bellator is going down hill since Coker took over imo.

Rebney's last show before being fired was JT vs Prindle. Literally the only way to go was up.

That to date stands as the worst Bellator show ever.

I was happier before Viacom got their mitts on things. But more recently, getting rid of the seasons and the tournaments doesn't thrill me. Those are the things that made Bellator special. Now, Viacom is trying to distinguish itself with...a half-assed feud between Stephan Bonnar and Tito Ortiz? Seriously????

And don't kid yourself - this had Viacom's fingerprints all over it. Much like Bjorn in the last year or so of his reign, Coker has little say in the direction of the company.

Bellator is becomming UFC Lite since Coker took over.

Miss the tournaments already.

I liked the tournaments but I find Bellator to be better due to the many young talents they have on the roster. Neves, Goiti, Dantas, Brooks, Chandler, Held, Lima, Koreshkov, Page, Mcgeary, they have the youngest HW core with tons of guys etc. Not bad for now. There cards of late have been really good if not great.

They shouldn't remove the tournaments. At least have them at the end of the year as a big major event. A 1 night tournament for New Years eve.

The whole NYE t.v. is a Japanese tradition. American's only watch those countdown shows and drink on NYE. What happened this season is really no different than any other season in terms of actual fights. The only difference is not tournament label.

Da Bombers should be running it.

where my bellator dawgs at ??

Tournament winners also get 100k so is possible Bellator canceled them to save some cash. Personally I think they should still have tournaments.

12 Regular Events
4 One Night 100k + Title Shot Tournament

It seems to me they're doing a lot of the same things that were done in StrikeForce, just with less talent and more exposure.

People forget that an old Frank Shamrock took on washed up Baroni for a title in SF, and that they promoted jokes like Lashley, Herschel Walker, and guys like Tank Abbott and Bob Sapp in main events.

StrikeForce became big by capitalizing on mistakes made by the UFC in their roster cuts, promoting old washed up names, and recruiting excellently. Bellator with Coker has far less mistakes to capitalize on, less prospects to scout (havn't had time either), and less names that garner even a smidge of respect.

Plus they're promoting it like its TNA which is not helping at all.

Excellent post. I think in time, people's memory of Strikeforce will be as rose-colored as their memory (or impression, if they didn't actually watch it as it happened) of PrideFC.

Exactly Strikeforce before the Elitexc buyout was mediocre at best, sure they were profitable but excluding their copromotions with proelite their shows were boring and full of squash matches.

The elitexc buyout made their shows enjoyable but it doomed them because they simply couldnt afford them (they were paying them as much as they would make in the ufc and sometimes even more)
Things just got worse financially when they started competing directly with the ufc and stealing guys like fedor and henderson.

Bellator is never gonna be Strikeforce 2.0 because viacom isnt interested in competing witht he ufc, or doesn't want to put the resources into actually doing it

Sacking Bjorn was a mistake, he made bellator what it is and with the new resources from viacom he was making things more exciting, Coker is not gonna do a better job in making bellator profitable considering his history and the chances he missed with the showtime cbs deal.

All we can hope is that he makes things more entertaining, which again is a big
question mark.

Without a doubt

Couldn't agree more, and I have no love for the guy. I just don't feel like Scott Coker is the cure-all that most fans want him to be, or the genius that most media depict him to be.

From what I've been seeing from Bellator lately, Bombers IS running it.

That said, I still very much enjoy it. Drastically different, but hey. It's fun.
