Belal wants to fight Usman next

That fight books itself. It is a no brainer.

With that said.. UFC will probably book them against a random contender. Just like they did with Lopes and stupid Yair.

Belal has only two fights which makes sense. Marty or Du Plessis. Not sure tho Marty wants Belal.
Why do you think Marty don't want Belal? Belal is the former champ & his last fight was the title fight. Usman coming off an impressive win vs Buck & beating the person who just had the belt recently would put him back in a title fight for sure.

I don't like vet vs vet fights when the division is so stacked. LW has proved you can match these guys up forever and never notice how much mileage they have. It's fine when there's room for it, but both guys want titles, so I think they should take the younger prospects out.
Or have 2 guys fight who don't like each other to see who the better man is, not only for bragging rights but also to eliminate one from title contention.

While I like the fight, it feels lower stakes than a potential Belal vs Shavkat matchup.

Beating Usman won't get Belal a titleshot again. Beating Shavkat puts him in the conversation immediately.

Overall WW is pretty stacked and exciting at the moment. Tons of good matchups. Lets hope the WW division doesn't live up to its reputation (moving at a snails pace with nonstop rank squatting and all the wrong matchups).

Hopefully it will look sth like this:
JDM vs Islam for the WW title.
Belal vs Usman
Brady vs Shavkat
Edwards vs Garry
Prates vs MVP (both want it for the quick turn-around in Brazil)
Morales vs Buckley

I mean didn't they text each other to watch the fights together? I don't think they hate each other.

Guaranteed they won't be so friendly with each other if they are fighting each other.

Honestly surprised this fight has not been announced yet. Makes sense career and rankings wise, plus they have heat. I actually think think would be a very interesting fight and should def be a five round main event of a non-Apex FN.

The fight that needs to be made. Two of the most unlikeable fighters at WW (besides Garry) going at it.

I don't tune in to UFC to watch old, washed up fighters fight each other. That's Bellator garbage type match making. I want to see the these guys fight prospects

That is some pretty good matchmaking, but Shavkat is out til next year. Brady, Ian Garry, Usman, & Belal are at the top of the division while JDM/Islam gets sorted & played out. While everyone is waiting for the outcome of JDM/Islam, the four I just mentioned is most likely to get the title shot after. Brady/Garry is definitely a title eliminator if that goes down with the winner most likely getting the next shot. Usman has already had his time, & I'm thinking the UFC wants fresh & younger guys with the title or in the title fights unless Usman or Belal just look absolutely stunning & come out with an impressive win. Or if Islam wins & demands a fight with Usman (he has entertained that matchup as possible) rather than a fight with Ilia or retiring. That being said I don't see the UFC matching Usman up with Brady or Ian Gary to potentially knock them off like he did Buck. That's why I think Usman/Belal is more likely than anything else.

Finally, a fight where I root for Marty. I didn't think this day would come.
<mma4>
Wait…are you saying you dislike Marty enough to never root for him but like him enough to wish for a day that you could root for him?

I'm saying I can't recall a time I ever rooted for Marty, until now. And that I'm surprised this day has actually come as I'd assumed it never would.

im not a belal fan, he is a grinder with an ugly style with an american trash talking cringy mouth but 1 thing I do respect about him....he will literally fight anyone. doesnt matter what style or rank, he will fight them. over all these years we have seen too many fighters pick and chose, get special treatment or a fasttrack to a shot. belal has had the toughest route to the title and even now he is not asking for an immediate title shot after losing the belt. so many fighters do this.

why did the pink haired dude get an immediate rematch against merab again? because???

at least belal is asking for a potential stylistic dangerous (snoozefest?) fight and not scream title shot

This will be my first time rooting for Marty the Nebraskan nightmare

fights to make after every belal fight:

belal against... nobody

him and aljo, just retire them for excessive boredom.

Fully agree with you.

I saw sth. about Shavkat and Brady being targeted for November (MSG) but could be the usual Twitter grift. Hopefully not though.

I would love to see Shavkat back in action asap against whoever. I hope I'm wrong about him not being back til next year, but that's what I've been hearing everywhere.
