Belal would beat tf out of Strickland and probably make him cry in the process.

Strickland is low IQ with limited fighting ability.

He can stand up and pitter patter himself to a decision or quick KO. That’s about it.

Khamzat, Belal or one of these more complete fighters face him and it’s a wrap.

Whittaker has said multiple times it's always been a problem for him, DDP didn't cause that injury he just aggravated it. So if you wanna take away credit from Khamzat then also take away credit from DDP's win over Whittaker.

Whittaker was on a 2-fight winstreak. Sure, he lost to DDP, then beat Costa by unanimous decision, then finished Aliskerov. Sean lost to DDP, then beat Costa by a boring split decision, then refused to fight Whittaker.

Aliskerov had only lost to Khamzat before Whittaker, pre-UFC. Costa was 1-3 in his last 4 before facing Strickland.

Khamzat got the number one contender fight vs Whittaker because he's undefeated and because of his undeniable talent. He also was promised a WW titleshot after beating Burns and a MW titleshot after beating Usman (it was supposed to be vs Costa).

Another thing people forget is that Strickland only got the titleshot because DDP was injured. He was 2-2 in his last 4 before Izzy, with losses to Cannonier and Pereira, and a short-notice win against Imavov (#12) at LHW, and a finish against Abus Magomedov (unranked).

Tldr; Strickland never earned his titleshot in the first place, had 0 defenses. At the time, Usman and Whittaker were much better wins than young Imavov at LHW and unranked Abus.

I don't even like Khamzat, but he obliterated Whittaker. I actually like Whittaker even less these days.

Whittaker is basically a front-runner, with an outdated style. The fact he's beat so many contenders, after getting KO'd by Izzy, is testimony to the lack of hardy contenders more so than anything great about Whittaker.

Whittaker was decimated by Izzy, DDP, and Khamzat. He's only "looked good" against perennial failures ... like Costa, Cannonier, and Vettori ... yet could only "decision" them <lmao><lol>

Yes, Whittaker looked good against the unproven Aliskerov, and then went right back to looking bad against the current MW elite — themselves all average palookas.

No thanks on Whittaker's future, or his frantic quit to Chimaev.

I don't think you can call it a fluke since whittaker had 2 training camps and knew he had weak teeth since the ddp fight and still got ragdolled, had his back taken for 3.5 minutes, and put in a face crank. A fluke is what happened to brian ortega when he tore his shoulder against yair in the 1st fight, or someone breaking their leg
 
All of Strickland's fights are close, I bet every opponent wants a rematch and never gets one. Strickland could put a stamp on his victories more but chooses to stick to a disciplined gameplan.

It's stupid we are going to be lucky to see DDP vs Khamzat or Caio before 2025 ends. If Strickland wins there might be a retarded trilogy.
 
maybe i'm the only one, but i don't get what's the big deal about Khamzat's win over Whittaker? so Whittaker had a pre-existing injury? so what? the position that Khamzat got him in wasn't because of his teeth, and when he put the clamp on his face he could've easily broke/dislocated Rob's jaw even without the injury being there. i've seen that happen before in that same kind of position.

i don't even like Khamzat, but that's what it is to me.

This might be the dumbest collection of opinions per sentence on sherdog.

Sean didn't earn his title shot and then lost it on his very first defense to an undefeated opponent. You don't get an automatic rematch in that circumstance, setting aside the fact that his fights are often brutal to watch point fighting decisions.

Costa hasn't won a fight against a ranked opponent in half a decade. He is completely immaterial to the title picture. He fought Sean coming off a loss, having lost 3 of his last 4. Even still, Sean managed to turn it into a controversial decision stinker. The idea that this warrants a second title shot is absolutely bonkers.

Khamzat has much better claim, so does Imavov. Unlike Sean, these guys actually stop fights and hurt people in the process.

whittaker is a fan favourite, many picked him over khamzat confidently and probably feel dumb so the pre existing injury is overplayed in order to make them feel better if I had to guess. Mohawk bandito rightfully pointed out that whittaker had the teeth issue his whole ufc career and no one did that to him, so calling it a fluke doesn't make sense because the only person skilled enough in the MW division to get whittaker in that position to apply a crank was khamzat
