Belal looked average

Belal isn't championship material imo. You think Burns with one arm would have lasted in there with Shavkat? Nope

Top 5 is:

Edwards (who dominated Belal for as little as it lasted)
Usman
Covington
Khamzat
Burns

He got a decision against Burns, who fought 3 weeks ago and was fighting with one arm. Burns could have absolutely sat out and he would have gotten the title shot unless Belal managed to fight and beat Shavkat or Usman.

Gilbert made a bad call but all respect to him. Belal will be a massive betting underdog against whomever holds the title.

You do realize the line moved before the fight because Belal was injured right? I get it Burns is likeable. He has nothing for Belal. Belal's TDD is too good, and he manages distance too well for the explosive outbursts from Burns.

I think Belal loses to Edward's too, but he would beat Colby. I'd love to see it. I kind of hope Edward's just takes time off and they mKe the interim fight.
I think colby outpoints belal. Both not power punchers and wrestling equal. Colby is the higher output fighter.

First, Belal is not a convincing muslim. Let me get that out of the way upfront.

Second, dude was kicking a wounded compromised fighter and couldn't squash him. Perhaps sympathy or maybe just risk management from catching a desperate Right.

He made burns look average and on short notice with no real camp too

He perpetually looks average, yet still wins. It’s mildly infuriating.

He caught Burns at rhe right time who also didn't look very good in his last fight against Masvidal.

Wasn't surprised belal won. I think burns is on the downside of his career now.

Belal was against all odds. Just came off after fasting for a month, massive weight cut, had 2 weeks to prepare, terrible inflammation on the leg.

Meanwhile Burns was already settling in,already made weight and was popping roids for better recovery.
Do you have sources for the steroid accusation?

Belal would have given hell to any version of Burns.

It simply isn't a great style matchup for him.

Burns is a solid fighter but he's rather predictable on the feet. He has specific punches he likes to throw and when.

Belal is someone who comes with a multi faceted approach, great kicks, switches stances, difficult to hit, he's simply the much more versatile fighter on the feet.

Burns landed the punches that should have turned the tide in his favour, his overhand right and hook. Belal just walked through it.

I think Khazmat was the better fighter on the feet also, but after the first round he just abandoned any semblance of tactics and brawled with him. Which obviously made the fight as close as it was.

If he fought a measured, tactical fight as he showed initially, it would've been fairly one sided as well.

Nothing against burns. But he's very beatable on the feet, especially if he can't take you down.

No, he just has a style that isn't visually pleasing.

So you ignore what he's actually doing in there.

People used to say the same thing about Jake Shields striking, or even Aljo.

Their movement and striking style looks awkward on paper.

People focus on that, but not what they're actually doing which garners effectiveness.

You don't have that level of success against the type of fighters they have if you're average.

Some of you guys just don't know what you're watching.

There's a reason DC, the commentary and all the analysts who covered the fight praised Belal. Because they aren't focused on his awkward style

They're paying attention to what he's actually doing. His technique, tactics, ability to avoid being hit, versatility, cardio, will, etc.

He looked average and is now easily top 5 if not top 3 with the 3rd best WW resume of this era behind only Kamaru and Leon

So what does that say about the rest of the division right now? <Lmaoo><Lmaoo>

I feel like Belal can take a punch because of his massive fucking head...

The guy looks like a bobblehead in the cage.

He keeps winning too so <{vega}>what can ya do?

Is he average or do you just suck at analyzing fights

Combat isn't always about who looks prettiest In their techniques. Boxing has shown this for generations.
