Beginner heavyweight bag gloves

give the fairtex bgv9 a look, you can get them in 18oz if you want.

I have the Rival d30 gloves, hayabusa's ring2cage, and boons. The rivals are by far the best bag/pad glove I've ever tried. The protection to my finger, joints, knuckles and hand are beyond compare. I've heard people complain about the wrist support - but its not an issue for me. I wrap my hands - including the wrists and can beat the shit out of the bag without feeling it the next day in my hands. Shoulders, elbows and back - well, that's a different issue. If they are in your budget I would suggest them.

200s should be good, extra wrapping around the knuckles. Or like Shihtzu said get a pair of NG-2s from winning and wrap those with your current 180s.

I apologize for being out of the discussion for a bit...picking the little ones up from school, dinner, baths, etc.

I swear, all of you guys (except the dbag lawmills2006) are freaking awesome!! My hometown (Louisville KY) used to be a great boxing city, not anymore. It is hard to find reliable information for "green" boxers like me. I just want ALL of you to know that I sincerely appreciate your expertise, your ideas, willingness to help me, and your overall friendliness. It is greatly appreciated.

I have so much more information now...and a good idea on which gloves/wraps would suit me best. Maybe I do have poor form being a beginner, maybe my knuckles are "soft and green" but it's great to have a solid pair of gloves in the meantime while I learn!!

I wish guys like stratocastr, Minowayfanatic, etc. Lived near me...would most certainly be great coaches, training partners and all around like minded guys. Oh!and friends as well!!!

I know everyone is very busy, and your time means a LOT to me...I don't have a lot of money and very sore knuckles- lol!! I appreciate everything.

As a further thought, guys... I am getting the 200 inch ringside wraps and stratocastr is going to give me some pointers on wrapping technique. If you guys had to pick only one and would be left on a deserted island with a heavy bag and either the mim ring to cage, the ringside, or the Hayabusa tokushu, which would you choose? Can we all agree on the best of these for three day a week all-out heavy hitting? I can not afford to make a mistake here...on a budget and my little kids are expecting another big Christmas this year-so I can't do trial-and-error, lol!! Again, you guys are great...and thank you again for the helpful info regarding my mini-mid-life crisis!

Thanks bro for te input...I watched a video on YouTube where Leroy Barnes was praising these d30's. I also heard of a video where a guy took some of the strange gel from the glove, wrapped it around his finger and hit it with a hammer...supposedly it turns rock hard on impact.

Sounds cool, but I guess I worry about longevity in these...and the fact they are 12ozs. Not sure that it matters, but I have one shot at this. A lot of money for me, I have three kids and a fianc

Since you emphasis knuckle protection on a budget, I'd say at the sub $70 mark you should pick up an IMF or MiM or any other higher end molded foam (bayfill). Adidas and Title also sell gloves that use molded foam. After a small break in period, your knuckles won't feel a thing. I work out with two guys both 6'6" who throw bombs and they use 16s with no issues.

I think after more training and as you advance, you'll want to feel the feedback on your knuckles so you'll gravitate toward other gloves, but having an IMF during sore knuckle days is always a good thing and a good first purchase.

Ring-to-Cage MiM > Tokushu > Ringside IMF

I have owned all three of them, but have not used the Hayabusas long enough to grant them the first spot. If you want good deals, go for these:

#1 If you have someone to lace you up or you can get some Hook and Loop converters (do not mind the fact they are 14oz, these are EXTREMELY protective and the price is right!):

#2 If you do not have anyone to lace up your gloves and you don't mind the fact that the the Ringside IMFs develop some pimples :-) which look bad, but do not affect the performance.

Yeah I told him the quad foam, I think its better than the IMF version wouldn't you agree Gus?

I don't have ANY experience with the Tokushu yet.

Gus since you are a bigger dude, did you get a chance to look at the gloves I linked him on the previous pages?

You think those would work out for him?

I used both gloves but im only 5'8
