Before K1 days

Manson Gibson
vs Luc Verheye

vs Caeser Takeshi
vs Ernesot Hoost
Unique style that has never been close to replicated. Bad judging and reffing in the Ernesto fight. That side kick knockdown in the extension round should have been counted as a knockdown, and he won without it.
I don't know what he's up to these days or if he made enough money to not have to work during his retirement.

Would been a better fight if they had no leg kicks.

Jean Yves Theriault , one of my all time favorites. Glad to see his name in the op by the thread starter.

Jean Yves Theriault fought Don"the Dragon"Wilson, who won that one? Wilson fought leg kicks rules I think,so would have been interesting to see how Theriault did there.

They fought way back in the early 80's and fought to a 12rd draw. Both great fighters, both legends and I am happy to see their names and fights still ''talked'' about.

i dunno, i just dont like the long pants, no knees and no leg kicking. doesnt do it for me

I like that its so ridiculously 80s and its fun to watch the old matches, but if there was some American kickboxing org going on now I would have zero interest in it because of the no knees and leg kicks.

I liked WCL ..it was fun.

yea unfortunately not. unless you reign at the top for years. Manson was fucking incredible.
Manson had the quickest spinning backfist I have ever seen. It was nearly like a jab in terms of speed.

There's quite a few dream matches that should've happened before the advent of K-1 in my opinion.

Rob Kaman vs Don Wilson

Rick Roufus vs Dennis Alexio

Benny Urquidez vs Toshio Fujiwara

Gilbert Ballantine vs Pete Cunningham

For whatever reason, they never got to fight each other which is a real shame. These would've been insanely action-packed.
