Before K1 days

Dennis Alexio became the Tyson of kick boxing back in the day for his short reighn as the most feared guy in the late 80's ..early 90's. Alexio was invited to compete in UFC 1 but declined....they brought in Gerard Goudard instead.
His fight with Stan the Man Longinidis in aus. was massive back in the day. he did an 'anderson silva' and snapped his leg in 1st minute for those who dont remember.

Serkan Yilmaz was fun, but all flash. He lacked the fundamentals to keep up.

Watch Masato absolutely dismantle him with Thai style kicking:

He actually stepped in a soft spot in the ring...it was not from a kick.

looked like he checked a low kick wrong and then when he put weight on it gave way.

with those shorts on he deserved to go down like that. what a fashionista

that was just introduction to new games. going against masato in k1 when you have that extensive background in TKD. itd be the other way around if masato went and fought him under TKD rules. even worse for masato. Serkan was great. he for the most part kept a high guard, worked 1-2 combo decently. he stopped before he developed more obviously. think it was the icing on the cake to his career to say he did K1 that's just what it feels like to me

Looks like he fought in every sort of event.

the full pants and sweater is TKD, ring is kickboxing...90 percent sure he didn't compete under thai rules with elbows I could be wrong

too bad he ducked a lot of guys like Roufus for one. Granted he did step into the ring with don Wilson and branko and Michael macdonald and stan.

Would Bill Wallace and Joe Lewis fall in?

80's very early 90's..retired in 92 if I remember correctly. Yea JWP originally called himself Wonderkick, influenced by Superkick.. Jean Yves Theriault was like Benny the Jet look into him. He was a machine but went into beast mode after he got shot in the left arm, x rays showed his shoulder was messed up9not from gunshot) after hed already been fighting for a while. they fixed his shoulder then that left hook came out he was sleeping everyone. has 2 wins over Hoost aswell. one of the best Canadian fighters and was the first with the nickname ICEMAN in fighting not Liddell

Where did you hear that Theriault got shot ? I've been following his career since the late 1970's and it has never been mentioned to my knowledge.

my coach told me. he said years ago he was either working some place or doing laundry at a laundry mat or some shit random attack of course he wasn't involved in any crap...said that happened and the x-ray also showed his shoulder was messed up and had been for some time. fixed it for him aswell as gun wound and then the left hook really came out.. I never heard of it until he told me. he's old school as hell its awesome but he could be wrong

Did a bit of homework on Stephen Superkick and found this guy Ian "Power Horse" Jacobs. He was Superkicks training partner and from what I could see was a bigger name on the Australian scene.
Reminds me a bit of Albert Kraus

yeah Stan was trying to get him back for a rematch for yrs. Denis just stayed in Hawaii fighting low level guys thou. 'The Voice' Schiavello is close with Dennis, remember a detailed interview he did with him a few years back, good read.

big Kraus fan and good call digging this video up thanks
Ha, I remember these mid 90’s days! Tarik Solak’s early cards at Festival Hall. Gurkan, Jenk Behic and Baris Nezif were good fighters and big names in the Western suburbs ( strong Turkish community).

with the massive Greek community in Melbourne the eventual fight of Zambidis vs Gurkan was huge.

I was ring side as a youngster when Gurkan ko’ed future world boxing champ paul briggs. Gurkan was a scary man, with scary power.

I can not stand leg kicks as they are so effective yet bore the shit out of me for entrainment value plus bloody be it getting checked or catching yer shin on an elbow.

I know. You've mentioned you don't like leg kicks in 95% of your posts...
