BEER! For hardgainers?

I love beer too and gained quite bit of muscle mass and sloppy weight in college while combining a laughable bodybiilding 6 day split and a shit ton of partying (fraternity at mu).

That being said I wasnt strong at all and everything I have seen indicates that the resources and energy required to flush the body of the alchohol seriously hampers the ability to repair and build muscle tissue.

My theory is eat big, late and as clean as possible but not too picky. Have a whole milk protein shake with two scoops of peanut butter with every meal. 2/3 chicken breasts,instead of one. Also carnals treastie on heavy lifting has practical and no bs advice for would be ectomorphs.
