And in my opinion, we get worse results for it.
We've spent the last decade wondering if Conor was truly better than Aldo or if it was just lighting in a bottle.
It ended up ruining Conor. He couldn't accept his losses to Dustin or what happened with Khabib.
We saw Daley get his career ruined because Koscheck spent an entire fight snuggling him and whispering the foulest things he could come up with instead of working for a finish.

It must suck to get whomped by a guy you already beat and suddenly have him counter nearly all of your offense (and it’s not like Merab whooped Yan that bad in the first fight just controlled him and landed pitter patter) I’ve seen people say Merab won this fight…and it’s almost comparable to GSP vs Jonny where it was close stat wise but the significant strikes and damage was clearly on the challengers side (and GSP won that fight) Almost like Jones vs Gus or Jones vs Dom but I thought Jon got whooped way worse in the Dom fight than the Gus fight or at least didn’t mount anywhere as much offense
Merab was fighting back but Petr was actually hurting him and forcing him backwards.
The thing is Merab can’t hold on to takedowns unless it’s on O’Malley and I think Sean’s height and length actually just gave Merab more to hold on to whereas Petr being short gave him a better center of balance and allows him to slip out under Merab and also sprawl faster/easier

They really need to do something about stalling on the fence dude that shit has no place in MMA and only exists because of the environment the fights are held in. Although Yan was able to use the cage as a barrier which is weirdly a part of Aldo’s Tdd which also causes him to lose fights for…defending takedowns

It’s not like Merab is Khamzat where he can lay on top of dudes the whole fight and that shit does get awkward after a while
