I keep watching the replay and I’m so impressed by the technique. Stepping with the stiff arm, overhook, pummeling to underhook, and using the underhook to generate extra torque for his right hand. Brilliant. He did a good job drawing a reaction from Stipe too. Stipe did the right thing for the most part. Collar tie and reach for the wrist control. But Cormier seems to have anticipated that so he pulled his hand back nice and far before throwing that short bomb.

Really just beautiful stuff. Stipe was simply out gamed.

Reminds me of how Hendo KOd Shogun.

Dom Cruz broke it down real well after the fight.

Agreed on all counts.

Hated to see Stipe lose, but congrats to DC, awesome to see him become 2 division. Both fighters are complete class acts.

But but but but the eye poke.............

That he said dirty boxing was the path to victory makes it more amazingx he was right

Stipe gets dropped like a sack of potatoes is just about every fight.

DC was just the ONLY one besides Struve to capitalize on it lol

It wasnt that deep. Stipe just has poor clinch wrestling

The real shame is that Stipe was dominating the fight until the eye pokes

DC is low key a dirty fighter but for some reason always gets a pass. Remember he held the choke on Volkan after the bell too.

Over all, a very terrible and disappointing night.

The only highlight for me was Felder vs Perry

DC's eyepoke doesn't make Stipe let his hand down in the clinch

My thoughts exactly. A hard short hook on the break can be devastating.

If anything, BTW, it shows how great of a WRESTLER DC is.
You release when you want to release and pound with the timing.

I bet this is not something your boxing coach can teach ya :)

Agreed. And Cormier makes the overhook work so well in his favor.

True, true.
