Beaulieu Boxing Equipment

so what do if you want a sparring glove 16oz combined with a lot of time on the bag? what foam would you guys recommend still deciding :(, so its layered, imf or gel now?

I've not tried gel. I would either pick that, or the layered foam, personally. If you give it a couple weeks there should be more info out on the gel. I don't think you can go far wrong with any of the options though, and if you generally like IMF for bagwork then you will be fine with IMF.

I like layered for bags. I haven't tried Muhammad's gel but gel as a whole supplements any padding type beautifully

Those gloves and mitts look great. I got to try BB sometime. It's one of the few companies that I've never seen or used in real life.

Had a couple days with my order of two 16oz gloves from TopBoxer. Going to do a review later, but for anyone that might be thinking of making an order:

I don't recommend IMF for bagwork or pads unless you are a particularly heavy hitter and your knuckles just tear through the padding of these gloves, then get dense IMF, ask for thicker than standard latex foam or othopedic foam.

I reviewed some more dense IMF gloves here

http://forums.sherdog.com/forums/f67/beaulieu-12oz-review-2374997/

And those did actually protect very well for bagwork and pads, and would absorb some shock, but I think the formula has changed now to prevent the bobbling that used to occur. The last very dense IMF gloves I had from Beaulieu did not feel as good on the bag and I gave them to a friend. Maybe that was because they hadn't broken in, but regardless I'm still of the opinion that latex is the way to go.

The gloves I've just received are soft IMF and they don't feel like they absorb any shock despite it, it sort of just compresses back against your fist and doesn't make for a very comfortable experience. Dense IMF will also have better wrist support.

Dense IMF may actually protect well for bagwork but I think you can do better from Beaulieu. My 10oz layered latex foam glove from Beaulieu offers me better protection on the bags and pads than any of the 5 Beaulieu IMFs I've had do as far as shock absorption goes, and hasn't degraded at all after a year of heavy use.

Soft IMF is great for sparring and safe for you and your partner, but not ideal for padwork or bagwork, in my opinion.

Just my opinions on the experiences I've had. Others might think differently.

Also, the 360 velcro straps do nothing for the wrist support. All they do is add weight onto your forearm.

You already have the IMF and are happy with it, you shouldnt be disappointed! lol. Ultimately my gloves still make great sparring gloves, so I'm happy with the order.

Yeah I dunno I don't think our taste would different THAT much though, I think you and I pretty much like the same thing for the most part

Hell we probably even look the same

Yeah I love Bills gloves to spar with that's my red and white Beaulieu sole purpose in life. I think they've seen like 3 rounds on mitts when I 1st got them.

What does bill charge for focus mitts with very limited customization (i.e, all black or brown)? Can he vary the density of the mitts from wood to marshmallow?

We can do the change in mitts and have more than one style. Write to me at my posted email address and we'll discuss all. Thanks for your support. [email protected]

Okay, just for perspective:

Strato spars with Bill IMFs
Mino spars with Bill layered foam
PPl who prefer to spar with Reyes, Grant, and Winning are sparring with layered foam
Ppl who spar with everlasts from Sports Authority are just inconsiderate

I spar with IMFs (bought from TopBoxer), and hit the bag with Bill's layered foam

Mino which density of bills IMF do you think is best for sparring, emphasizing safety for the opponent?
