Josh Hartnett Regrets Turning Down Chris Nolan's Batman Role

Josh-Hartnett-Batman-Begins-Dragonlord.jpg

Back in the early 2000s, Josh Hartnett was on Hollywood's radar to become the next big thing. The only problem is he had no desire to become a Hollywood star. He turned down opportunities to become Spider-Man, Superman and Batman. "I somehow knew those roles had potential to define me, and I didn't want that. I didn't want to be labeled as Superman for the rest of my career. I was maybe 22, but I saw the danger," he told Details in 2014.

"I've definitely said no to some of the wrong people," Hartnett admitted to Playboy. "I learned my lesson when [writer-director] Christopher Nolan and I talked about Batman. I decided it wasn't for me. Then he didn't want to put me in The Prestige. They not only hired their Batman for it, they also hired my girlfriend (Scarlett Johansson) at the time."

"That's when I realized relationships were formed in the fire of that first Batman film and I should have been part of the relationship with this guy Nolan, who I felt was incredibly cool and very talented," Hartnett added. "I was so focused on not being pigeonholed and so scared of being considered only one thing as an actor. I should have thought, Well, then, work harder, man. Watching Christian Bale go on to do so many other things has been just awesome. I mean, he's been able to overcome that. Why couldn't I see that at the time?"

Too bad that it took him this long to figure out that good actors don't let superhero roles define them. Hartnet pledged, "I know now that I wouldn't turn something down just because it's a superhero role."

Details on Red Hood, Joker, Harley Quinn, JOHN WICK Directors

Red-Hood-Batman-v-Superman-Dragonlord.jpg

Latino Review's El Mayimbe is reporting that Jason Todd's Robin uniform will be on display in the Bat Cave in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. This isn't exactly a new rumor, but a combination of two rumors that circulated previously. One said that Jason Todd would be a part of the DC Cinematic Universe, the other reported on the Robin costume in the Bat Cave. Most fans made the logical jump that the costume would be Todd's without any need for assistance.

Mayimbe goes on to say that Todd's persona post-resurrection, the Red Hood, is now a priority character for Warner Bros. He also says that his death is the reason that the Joker and Harley Quinn are no longer happy lovebirds in Suicide Squad. Much in the same way that the Joker's brutal murder of Jason Todd signaled a tonal shift in the character in the comics, it seems likely that the murder in the cinematic universe opened Harley's eyes to just how depraved the Joker can be, driving a wedge between the two of them.

Lastly, the report suggests that Warner Bros. is looking at John Wick directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch for a future DC Comics movie, possibly Red Hood. Mayimbe also suggests that Marvel's Kevin Feige may also be looking at the directing duo, so they may find themselves the object of a superhero bidding war in the near future.

New Details on BATMAN V SUPERMAN Fight Scene Revealed

Batman-versus-Superman-032515-Dragonlord.jpg

[Possible Spoilers] Hot on the heels of the first look of Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Badass Digest shares a small breakdown of the film's central conflict. Why are Batman and Superman embroiled in a fight? Well, Eisenberg may have more than a little something to do with it. Director Zack Snyder's mega movie doesn't open for another solid year but the site details how this film differs from The Dark Knight Returns (which has Superman working for the government and gives Batman the advantage over him):

"In Batman v Superman Superman is no lackey of the government; if anything many of the world's governments distrust the guy. But it is Superman who goes to Gotham and starts the confrontation' at the behest of Lex Luthor. And unlike The Dark Knight Returns, Superman comes out swinging, pulverizing the Batmobile with one punch. Why would Superman do Lex Luthor's bidding? What is Lex hoping to accomplish? That would be spoiling. But know that when the fight is over, Batman will be able to point to Superman and say, 'He started it!'"

Christina Wren Returns as Carrie Farris in DAWN OF JUSTICE

Christina-Wren-Batman-v-Superman-Dragonlord.jpg

Actress Christina Wren, who portrayed Major Carrie Farris in Man of Steel, revealed in an interview with the Pittsburgh Magazine that she is going to be reprising her role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. "The casting director just got in touch with me," Wren said on how she got the good news. "I got to know her a bit through the first project, Man of Steel because she had to hunt me down a little bit; she just called me directly, which is always nice. It's more personal."

"We filmed mostly in August," Wren added. "I was out in Detroit. Back a little bit in September. I can tell you that I think it's going to be badass! They're just such an awesome team. The bits that I was on set for look fantastic. Everyone in it is fantastic. It's exciting. it's high-energy. it's high-action. They are addressing all of the things that they set up in Man of Steel."

"So there's some gossip," Wren on whether her character will play a key role in the future DC movies. "This has not been officially confirmed with me at all. But my character's name is Carrie Farris; there's a character named Carol Farris who's the Green Lantern's girlfriend and turns into this superhero, Star Sapphire. But I have no idea if that's the plan; they're not even slated to do a Green Lantern film for several years."

BATMAN V SUPERMAN Fight Choreographer Teases Epic Fight

Batman-Punches-Superman-1217-Dragonlord.jpg

Guillermo Grispo: "Look, at Warner Bros., they are very strict, so I can’t say much, but it’s no surprise if I say Batman and Superman come face-to-face in the movie. It’s one of the most important sequences and I was actively involved in the design of the fight: the exchange of punches and the physical movement were put together with my partner Ryan Watson."

"There’s a thought that Batman has no chance, that the other [Superman] will squash him like a bug. But when you see the movie, and how it all comes out, there’s a very intelligent explanation as to why they would have a firsthand confrontation though it seems to be totally to Batman’s disadvantage."

"Just imagine, it was like making dulce de leche (a similar thing to chocolate in Argentina). Now Batman it’s going to fight the way I’ve always dreamed seeing him fight… he’s a character so prepared in martial arts that you can do a lot of things with him, but filmmakers usually don’t go all the way with it. Even in the last Nolan movies the action scenes aren’t very good from a technical, martial arts point of view to things like choreography, filming, bad camera movements…"

"But hey, don’t get me wrong, Nolan is great, I would kiss his shoes. He makes fascinating stories, but I think that he did not pay too much attention to the fights. Those are the kind of details that Zack, being so physical himself, loves preparing. I think there’s going to be a big difference when you see these Batman fights in comparison to the previous ones."

New Cyborg and Doomsday Details in BATMAN V SUPERMAN

Cyborg-Batman-v-Superman-010915-Dragonlord.jpg

An image popped up online purporting to show the end card on the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, and it's a doozy of a shocker - it shows that the movie has been cut in half, and that the movie we know, coming out in March of 2016, is just Part Two, and that Part One is hitting October 23rd, 2015 with the awful subtitle Enter The Knight.

Badass Digest's Devin Faraci who is familiar with the script, doubts the validity of the rumor since he doesn't think there's enough material to cover two movies here. And if they did have two movies the first half certainly isn't Batman heavy enough to warrant Enter the Knight as the subtitle.

If they were to cut it in half, Faraci guess they could cut it at the big Superman and Batman fight, which comes about halfway through the film. But that fight isn't huge, and there isn't enough action in the first half of the movie to make that a whole film all its own. And then there's so much action in the second half as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman battle Doomsday in Metropolis and Gotham that you'd end up with two very, very lopsided movies. It works as an escalation in the full script, but without major additions it seems limp.

There's one more thing about this, and it could be a small spoiler: Ray Fisher, who plays Cyborg, said he only had scenes with Ben Affleck. Faraci is pretty sure Cyborg is only in this movie as a cameo, and that's at the very, very end as Batman assembles the Justice League. If they were cutting this movie in two it seems likely that Fisher's part would have been beefed up at least a little bit.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN Details on Doomsday and More
(Spoilers)

Doomsday-Batman-v-Superman-121514-Dragonlord.jpg

Badass Digest has uncovered new details on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice based on Chris Terrio's script. The film opens with Batman's origin and fast forwards to Bruce Wayne coming to Metropolis during the Superman/Zod fight, but that's just setting the stage for that character. From there the script turns its attention to Superman heavily, and it examines the implications of Superman in the real world. The main action takes place a couple of years after the end of Man of Steel, and Superman has been busy in the meantime, becoming the hero we know and love. Clark Kent and Lois Lane have moved their relationship forward to the point where they live together. Clark is still working at the Daily Planet. He's tasked with covering a Metropolis/Gotham football game but would rather be writing about Batman.

Very early in the film Lois is in the Middle East following a story when Superman shows up to help her out. This becomes something of an international incident as other nations view Superman as a tool of the United States. China, for instance, doesn't want him in their air space. It's an interesting look at how a being like Superman would be viewed on a global scale.

When Superman confronts a big bad guy and unravels his plot, he tells the villain, "I won't snap your neck, I'm going to take you to prison," an on-the-nose response to criticisms of the first movie. Of course Superman later loses his cool and threatens to break the bad guy's back, so he hasn't quite internalized everything yet.

As for being a protector of the people - when the Doomsday fight starts General Swanwick tells the military that Superman will move the battle away from populated areas because he's a hero, and that's what heroes do. Again, this is a direct response to complaints about the first film. It's also interesting to see that Swanwick, who was tracking Superman with drones at the end of Man of Steel, is such a supporter in this film. It seems that most people - except Lex Luthor and a cautious Batman, who is prepping anti-Superman weapons - believe Superman is a hero.

A Batman Character Is Already Dead in BATMAN V SUPERMAN

Batman-Battle-for-the-Cowl-Dragonlord.jpg

[Minor Spoilers] Badass Digest is reporting that Commissioner James Gordon is already deceased in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This explains why the role wasn't cast for the film, at least. It's still unknown how he died or who was responsible. The site mentions that in the script there's a memorial plaque honoring Gordon.

What does a dead Jim Gordon mean for Batman v Superman? Not much technically - most of the story takes place in Metropolis although there are two major fight scenes in Gotham (one where Superman comes looking for Batman and a climactic fight scene) - but it could have big consequences for the new DC Movieverse. While pre-Terrio drafts of the script mentioned a deceased Robin, later iterations closer to the start of shooting don't - perhaps in this continuity The Joker killed Jim Gordon instead of Robin? That would be an interesting spin, and something that could feed into future Batman movies.

Badass Digest says Batman is the lead in the Justice League movie and he's the guy who puts the team together. Lastly, the site mentions a scene in Batman v Superman which will feature Alfred advising Bruce on his conflict with Superman by telling him a long tale about two competing samurai who come to blows while trying to save a village.

New Details on KGBeast and The Joker for BATMAN V SUPERMAN

Joker-Batman-v-Superman-120214-Dragonlord.jpg

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will establish the wider DC Universe on the big screen, and by the time the movie is over we'll have met Aquaman, The Flash, Cyborg, Lex Luthor and Doomsday. Badass Digest stresses out that Doomsday is indeed in the film. But will there be other characters introduced? Will there be any Easter eggs for the hardcore fans? The answer is yes.

Lex Luthor has many agents making his dark agenda a reality, an agenda that includes keeping an eye on all metahumans, mainly a woman who walks the streets today but who is seen in pictures from the 1800s. A Wonder Woman, you might say. That might just confirm those reports that Wonder Woman's movie will be set in the 1920s.

At any rate, one of Luthor's agents has a name, and that name is Anatoli Knyazev. Hardcore fans will recognize that as the name of the KGBeast, a Batman villain introduced in 1988's classic Ten Nights of the Beast storyline. You won't see this version of KGBeast in the movie, but the character name is there - in the script at least. And lastly, the Joker already exists in this DC Cinematic Universe, and Superman knows about him. But the Joker doesn't appear onscreen in this movie though.

THE PRESTIGE Author Calls DARK KNIGHT Trilogy "Pretentious"

The-Dark-Knight-Rises-Set-Nolan-112614-Dragonlord.jpg

Christopher Priest: "I’ve only ever had one meeting with him [Nolan], when the film was finished. Because I wasn’t very interested in him. We all have different points of view on the world. To the world he’s this great, innovative filmmaker; to me, he was a kid who wanted to get into Hollywood. We got three offers [for The Prestige], one was from Sam Mendes who just made American Beauty.

"Word got back to Nolan or his wife, who is his producer, and I got message, email or something, that said 'there's a motorbike on its way, don't decide anything!' And so an hour later a motorbike came to my house and gave me a VHS of Following and there was a note on it that said 'watch this film and try to imagine what the filmmaker can do with a Hollywood facilities behind him.' So I watched the film, and I took a chance and decided that Nolan was probably going to be good, and so I selected Nolan over Mendes. I don't think he knows that."

"I think its probably his best film, [along] with Memento. Of the films he's made, those two are supreme. I don't like his other work, I think its shallow and badly written. I mean, I've got kids who like superheroes and they think the Batman films are boring and pretentious, they like things like The Avengers and Iron Man because they're fun. Its a wrong move to take a superhero and give it psychological realism. There is no psychological realism. He's a bodybuilder who jumps off buildings. I'm sorry I feel really strongly about this."

"And every now and then the guy jumps off the building on a rope, and they watch it and go, 'Woo!' Then they lose interest. To me, that’s a real major lack of judgment in Nolan, to go for superhero films. I feel this very strongly. Priest concludes by offering Nolan some advice. What he's trying to be is some kind of modern Kubrick. And I think he'd be better off being a modern Hitchcock, basically. A maker of well-made films like Memento and The Prestige. And these blockbusters are just embarrassing, I think. I haven't seen the new one yet."

The KGBeast Possibly Appearing in BATMAN V SUPERMAN?

KGBeast-Batman-v-Superman-Dragonlord.jpg

While he seemed an unlikely candidate for reinvention in the 21st Century, the '80s Batman villain The KGBeast recently appeared in an issue of Aquaman and the Others, apparently having had a past with the group. Why's that relevant to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice? Well, the same film that yesterday had a dressing room marked for Kahina, presumably the precognitive member of The Others, apparently has one marked "Knyazev" as well.

That's according to Filming in Chicago, the Twitter account that's been taking, or aggregating and retweeting, dozens of images from the set of the superhero blockbuster for the last couple of days. Of course, while Anatoli Knyazev -- codename: KGBeast -- most recently duked it out with Aquaman and company in the comics, his character may be better known outside of comics as a member of the Suicide Squad in the well-received animated feature film Batman: Assault on Arkham or even as Oliver's Russian confidant on Arrow.

That the latter features the Suicide Squad so heavily might call into question whether the immediate assumption that Kahina and KGBeast are in any way connected. There is, after all, a feature film being cast around the Suicide Squad and, reportedly, Batman V Superman's Jesse Eisenberg will play a role as Lex Luthor. There's also some speculation Jena Malone might be Kahina, rather than Robin.

Hans Zimmer Enlists Junkie XL to Score BATMAN V SUPERMAN

Junkie-XL-Batman-v-Superman-Dragonlord.jpg

Last October 2013, composer Hans Zimmer revealed his dilemma in scoring Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. "It’s creating a bit of a problem in my head right now," Zimmer told Collider last year. "Quite honestly, I’ve gotta sit down with Zack and have a chat with him about what he’s trying to do because what I don’t want to do is go back to that well. It’s a different Batman; Christian Bale and what I did with Chris, that needs to have its autonomous life. I don’t want to go and now appropriate that and put that into the other Batman."

Today, Zimmer has revealed his solution: He will take care of Superman and recruited Junkie XL to take over Batman duty. Zimmer tells CBR:

"I have agonized over it. I agonized over it, so much so that finally, I went, I don’t want to betray what Chris, James Newton Howard and I did. And so I asked Zack [Snyder] if it would be OK if I called a friend in. And I’m going to be working with Junkie XL, who really is a great friend. He just finished the Mad Max score. I said to him, 'You take care of Batman. I’ll do the other guy.' And Zack loved that idea. It’s a way out."

Tommy Lee Jones Hated Jim Carrey During BATMAN FOREVER

Jim-Carrey-Tommy-Lee-Jones-Dragonlord.jpg

Tommy Lee Jones is not a Jim Carrey fan. In fact, according to Carrey, Jones hates him. While promoting his new film Dumb and Dumber To on the Howard Stern Show, Carrey admits there was heavy animosity from Jones while the two of them filmed the 1995 superhero flick Batman Forever. Jim Carrey said:

"I think what happened was, I was really looking forward to working with Tommy because he's a fantastic actor and he still is to me, I mean he's amazing, but he was a little crusty, he was a little crusty. Sometimes that Rhodes Scholarship is more of a weapon than an asset. I think he was just a little freaked out because Dumb and Dumber came out on the same weekend as Cobb, and Cobb was his big swing for the fences and that didn't work out and that freaked him out a bit I think."

"I walked into a restaurant the night before our big scene in The Riddler's lair and [Tommy was there]. I went up to say hi and the blood drained from his face, in such a way that I realized that I had become the face of his pain. He got up, kind of shaking, hugged me and said 'I hate you. I really don't like you.' And I was like 'Wow, ok. Well, what's going on man?' And he said, 'I cannot sanction your buffoonery.' He did not want to work with me."

Jena Malone Confirmed to Appear, Possibly Playing Robin?

Jena-Malone-Robin-Carrie-Kelley-Dragonlord.jpg

Jena Malone is in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice cast, multiple sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter. However, whether or not she is playing a female version of Batman’s erstwhile sidekick Robin, remains close to the Bat-chest.

Malone’s name surfaced in a report on WILX-10, a station in Detroit, where the giant Warner Bros. movie is shooting. The reporter on the scene described a scene that would be shooting – a fight between Batman and Lex Luthor at a swank party that would also involve military person – and then dropped news that the script had Robin be a female character. The reporter also said that Malone could be playing her. The report then cut to a person claiming to be an extra — and the source of the information— who said that a multimillion dollar lawsuit could be filed for anyone breaking the movie’s non-disclosure agreements.

A female Robin is not out of the realm of possibility for the movie. Director Zack Snyder has said previously that the movie was taking many cues from The Dark Knight Returns, the classic Frank Miller mini-series published in the 1980s. That story introduced Carrie Kelley, a schoolgirl who is saved by the Caped Crusader. Batman v Superman is also rumored to have as a character Nightwing, who is a former Robin now grown to adulthood.

Lex Luthor's Home in BATMAN V SUPERMAN Revealed

Eli-Edythe-Broad-Art-Museum-Batman-Superman-Dragonlord.jpg

After months of speculation, it turns out that the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum will be featured as the home of billionaire genius Lex Luthor, played by Jesse Eisenberg. The scene being filmed is a lavish party with all kinds of guests, including characters played by Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Holly Hunter, and Tao Okamato.

Extras were seen dressed in clothing fit for such an event. The Starbucks inside the Museum has even been converted into a bar area for the scene. A certain Rolls Royce that was recently photographed in Detroit does indeed belong to Lex.

Batman-News point reports the guest list in the party includes Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent and Diana (Wonder Woman) and that, "Lex Luthor and Bruce Wayne get into a physical altercation at the party. It’s so bad that the military has to show up! The military scene is expected to shoot this weekend." There might be some inaccuracies here with what they've heard, and it's more likely that the military are more than likely Lex's personal security force and that they could end up descending on the location.

Warner Bros. Announces Massive DC Entertainment Slate

Justice-League-Alex-Ross-101414-Dragonlord.jpg

During a shareholder meeting today, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara formally announced plans for a Justice League movie, confirming one of Hollywood's worst-kept secrets. The film, directed by Zack Snyder, will be divided into two parts, as the rumored third and fourth Avengers movies are expected to be.

He also surprised the industry with announcements of more than half a dozen movies including Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad, Green Lantern and Cyborg. Four a-list stars are in talks to join Suicide Squad, which will be directed by David Ayer, as announced already. That film is planned for 2016, after Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Tsujihara called it "a gritty story of a team of supervillains who take on black ops missions for the U.S. government.

2017 will see the relase of both Wonder Woman and the first Justice League film. "We're bringing back the cast of Batman V Superman with a cast of other well-known and highly-anticipated superheroes," said the CEO of Justice League. "Wonder Woman is an iconic female superhero fans have been anticipating for many years."

2018 will bring The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, and Aquaman. With all of this new information, they finally did confirm that Jason Momoa will play the role. "Fans among the world will become more acquainted with [The Flash] through our hit show on The CW," said Tsujihara of marketing The Flash.

Shazam, which had been expected by many to be the first film post-Batman V Superman, will actually not hit theaters until 2019, the same year as Justice League Part 2.

While they don't yet have release dates, he also confirmed that Cyborg is in development with Batman V Superman's Ray Fisher and that they're working on a Green Lantern movie again. Those films are listed on the schedule above as 2020. Tsujihara also confirmed that the studio is working on stand-alone Batman and Superman films, although no release date was mentioned for them.

Wonder Woman's Demigod Origin in Dawn of Justice Confirmed

Wonder-Woman-Batman-Superman-101314-Dragonlord.jpg

Wonder Woman's origin in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice has been confirmed. During an interview, producer Charles Roven described in detail the difference between the world of The Dark Knight Trilogy, and that of the shared DC Universe begun in Man of Steel.

In his final comments, Roven mentions Wonder Woman, and confirms her origin as the daughter of Zeus. Roven said, "Wonder Woman’s in it. We know that. She has powers, she’s a goddess. She’s a demigod. Her father was Zeus."This would seem to lay to rest any other rumors about Wonder Woman’s origin in the film, including the one about Amazons being remnants of Krypton.

Wonder Woman’s origin has been redone many times since she was first created in 1940. Before DC’s New 52 relaunch, Diana was constructed from clay by Hippolyta (who wanted a daughter), and was brought to life by the Greek deities. In the New 52, however, she is the daughter of Hippolyta and Zeus, and recently became the new God of War after killing Ares.

Michael Keaton Rejected $15 Million Offer to Star in BATMAN 3

Michael-Keaton-Batman-101114-Dragonlord.jpg

With Michael Keaton doing the press rounds to promote Birdman, he’s facing numerous questions about Batman. Of course, Batman is back in the news with Ben Affleck taking on the role in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and there are some obvious parallels between Birdman and Keaton’s own history playing Batman. Just like there was a massive public outcry when Affleck was initially cast as Batman, Keaton reflected on the reaction to his own casting during an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning.

“It never occurred to me that there would be an issue one way or another,” said Keaton. “To this day, I think it’s funny. Now, I dig it. Now, I love it. I think it’s awesome.” Keaton described the outraged fans as “villagers with torches.” Keaton was also asked why he didn’t do a third Batman movie even though he was offered a reported $15 million to do it. In regards to what it was about Batman 3 that he didn’t like Keaton replied, “It sucked.” Keaton added, “Yeah, it just was awful.”

With Keaton now in his sixties, most would probably think his Batman days are behind him, but the actor said he would be willing to play the character again under one condition. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Keaton said, “If it was Tim Burton directing? In a heartbeat. Tim, in the movies, really invented the whole dark-superhero thing. He started everything, and some of the guys who have done these movies since then don’t say that, and they’re wrong.”

As far as why he didn’t sign on for a third Batman movie back in the day, Keaton explained, “I hadn’t been stupid about it. I always knew it was a big machine with a big studio and corporation behind it. But the simple answer was, it wasn’t any good. I was nice. I said to them, ‘This is a really interesting character with a dual personality.’ I tried to make them understand. But when somebody says to you, ‘Does it have to be so dark?... I thought, are we talking about the same character? So finally I just said no.”

Scoot McNairy to Play Jimmy Olsen in BATMAN V SUPERMAN?

Scoot-McNairy-Batman-v-Superman-Dragonlord.jpg

The website The Devils Eyes claims to have received some info from an extra on the set of Zack Snyder's currently shooting Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, pertaining to the character Monsters actor Scoot McNairy will play in the film. When those odd pics of McNairy appeared online, many assumed he'd be The Flash because he had CG friendly green socks on, and The Flash...runs fast? There's also been rumors that he could be playing the likes of Metallo or Dr. Will Magnus. Well, it seems the theory that he'd be portraying someone who lost his legs in the battle of Metropolis is the most accurate -- though that someone will apparently be an established DC character.

"Scoot is playing Jimmy Olsen, but with a bit of a twist. Jimmy was injured during the battle of Zod vs Superman. His legs where pinned under falling building rubble and that caused him to lose the legs. He now walks with the use of two prosthetic legs." The source goes on to add "He doesn't blame Superman for it [his loss of legs]. He feels grateful that Superman saved the world."

Does Warner Bros. Have a No Joke Policy in Their DC Films?

Man-of-Steel-Cuffs-0128b-Dragonlord.jpg

HitFlix's Drew McWeeny: "'No jokes.' Last week was about the fifth time I've heard that there is a mandate at Warner Bros. regarding any of the DC superhero films in development, and it's very simple and direct and to the point. 'No jokes.'

It would seem like a crazy rule to set for an entire series of films. Not according to Warner/DC. Not after Green Lantern. One thing you'd have to grant Green Lantern, whatever your feelings about it as a movie, is that they've got lots of jokes in that movie. Something has caused this shift in the overall editorial voice of the DC superhero movies. There's got to be a point behind an edict as broad and as specific as that.

DC is going to try for some big characters with Batman and Wonder Woman and The Flash and Cyborg and Aquaman, and one thing that's always seemed true to me of DC comics versus Marvel is tone. DC treats their superhero characters more like gods, fighting battles that we simply can't comprehend or participate in because of our natures. Marvel characters are more flawed, more human, struggling to live human lives while still dealing with their powers and their responsibility to the world.

But if 'No Jokes' is a reaction to Green Lantern, an edict that comes from a desire to simply do things differently from Marvel, it could really paint DC's movies into a corner, and I would imagine that it's giving some filmmakers pause in considering whether or not they'd want to make a DC movie.

So I'm going to put the question out there, and as we all talk to Zack Snyder or David Goyer or any of the actors working on these characters, I'd love to hear an answer, a firm denial. Is it true? Is DC really so gun-shy that they've laid this rule down for all of their films? Is it really a 'No Jokes' future we have to look forward to? And if so, do you think Marvel feels like they've already won in terms of audience sympathy if this is really how things are supposed to move forward?"

BATMAN V SUPERMAN Major Action Scene in Washington D.C.

Capitol-Building-Batman-v-Superman-Dragonlord.jpg

[Spoiler-ish info] Batman-News have got their hands on some photos of D.C. police cars, buses, and taxis from the set of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice which reveal that parts of the movie will take place in Washington D.C. (you can see those pics by clicking here) To put the photos into context somewhat, the site also have some details about what they describe as a "major action scene" which was shot in studio last month in Detroit.

Apparently, this part of the movie will see Superman visiting the United States Capitol building in Washington D.C. to answer for his role in the destruction of Metropolis in 2013's Man of Steel. Half the public blames him for all of that death as they believe that General Zod would have never invaded Earth if it wasn't for Superman being there. What most interesting about this is how a hearing will turn into a "major action scene". Whoever ends up being the movie's main villain will clearly choose now to attack, regardless of whether it's Doomsday, Metallo or even Batman.

Ben Affleck reportedly shot a scene inside the Masonic Temple in Detroit last week. The reception hall was transformed a large kitchen into an underground MMA fighting arena and bar. People from all types of backgrounds were down there betting on which fighter would win. Bruce Wayne shows up to bet, which makes people wonder “what’s this billionaire doing here?”. Wayne replies to that by saying “I’m kind of a night person” and ends up having a discussion with someone at the bar.

Batman v Superman Moves Release to Avoid Captain America 3

Batman-v-Superman-080514-Dragonlord.jpg

The Marvel/DC release date showdown has come to an end, and it appears that Marvel has come away the victor. Marvel Studios staked out the May 6, 2016 weekend a while ago for an "Untitled Marvel Movie," but when Warner Bros. went looking for a new release date for its Man of Steel follow-up, it decided to plant its flag on May 6, 2016 as well with the thinking that Marvel would subsequently move. Except Marvel didn’t move, it doubled down by announcing that Captain America 3 would be its May 2016 movie, which was certainly a big deal coming off the stellar opening weekend for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

And so now Warner Bros. has flinched, but instead of delving deeper into the summer, the studio will be trying to kickstart the blockbuster season incredibly early by setting the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice release date on March 25, 2016. If that wasn’t enough, Warner Bros. has announced release dates for 9 untitled DC films and 2 "event films." With the move, Warners and DC are essentially declaring war on Marvel and Disney, which have been the most prolific suppliers of superhero titles.

The DC movies that are expected to fill this ambitious pipeline include Zack Snyder's Justice League movie, standalone spinoffs for Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa's Aquaman, as well as a Shazam/Black Adam movie starring Dwayne Johnson and a Sandman movie that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is producing and may star in. WB also laid claim to Nov. 16, 2018, and Nov. 20, 2020, likely for the second and third installments in J.K. Rowling's Fantastic Beasts trilogy (the first film hits theaters in 2016).

Frank Miller Hates All the Batman Films Including Chris Nolan's

Frank-Miller-Dark-Knight-Trilogy-Dragonlord.jpg

Frank Miller is the legendary writer and artist best known for his dark comic book stories and graphic novels such as Ronin, Daredevil: Born Again, The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City and 300. He also directed the film version of The Spirit, shared directing duties with Robert Rodriguez on Sin City and produced the film 300. In an interview with Playboy, Miller reveals he isn't a fan of the films adapted from his work, including Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy.

[His opinion on Daredevil, Elektra and Batman movies] "When people come out with movies about characters I’ve worked on, I always hate them. I have my own ideas about what the characters are like. I mean, I can’t watch a Batman movie. I’ve seen pieces of them, but I generally think, No, that’s not him. And I walk out of the theater before it’s over. It includes all of them [including Nolan's trilogy]. I’m not condemning what he [Nolan] does. I don’t even understand it, except that he seems to think he owns the title Dark Knight. [laughs] He’s about 20 years too late for that. It’s been used."

[Whether he has received money from the Batman films] "No. If money’s owed me, I wouldn’t put it on him or any other author. To be sitting here whining and mewling and puking about that sort of thing…let other people do that."

[Whether he loves Batman more than Superman] "The Dark Knight series is all from Batman’s point of view. But if you look at Dark Knight 2, you’ll see a Superman who’s much calmer than the one in the first Dark Knight. Batman and Superman are dead opposites. I love Superman. Do I love Batman more? They’re not people. They’re only lines on paper."

Rumor: Doomsday Set to Appear in BATMAN V SUPERMAN?

Doomsday-Batman-v-Superman-071014-Dragonlord.jpg

Bleeding Cool sources who have been rather reliable in the past have told the site that they have seen Batman V Superman designs for the character of Doomsday. In the comics, Doomsday was the creature who killed Superman, in an epic battle across all the Superman titled, culminating a battle composed entirely of splash pages drawn by Dan Jurgens. Recently, the character returned in the rebooted New 52 Superman titles, in the crossover event Doomed masterminded by Scott Lobdell.

Now, of course, much can change in the production process. This may be used purely for flashback purposes on the screen, looking at the life (and death) of Superman. It may be purely for promotional efforts to accompany the film. Or it may not make it to the final cut. But as of now, it looks like Doomsday, the killer of Superman, might be in the next film.

New Details on Wonder Woman's Costume, Lex Luthor and More

Superman-Batman-Wonder-Woman-062214-Dragonlord.jpg

Wonder Woman's Costume
According to JoBlo's source, the description of Wonder Woman's outfit is ripped right from the comics and has a traditional, yet sleeker” costume that’s “battle ready. She’ll have a blue leather skirt, silver-armored cuffs that reach to her elbows, golden tiara (possibly a red star in the center) and a variation of the traditional-looking red top. Her overall appearance is described as "Amazon warrior princess" and definitely not an urban reimagining.

Wonder Woman's Weapons
Not just a golden lasso here, Wonder Woman will have no less than four weapons, including shield, sword, spear, and of course, the traditional lasso. It’s also noted that she will wear the shield on her back, Captain America style, when not in use.

Wonder Woman's Screen Time [spoiler-ish]
In terms of Wonder Woman's screen time, her character will be introduced as Diana initially before we see her as Wonder Woman. She'll have a fair amount of screen time and will team up with Batman and Superman for the final battle against an unnamed villain who may be working for or controlled by Lex Luthor.

Batman and Batcave
Batman is said to be a veteran crime fighter that will do anything it takes to get the job done. Superman is a rule follower, so they often don't see eye to eye, which is a consistent dynamic with their initial relationship. As for Batman's usual digs; Wayne Manor is there, but Bruce Wayne chooses to live on the property in a modern-looking cottage by a lake. Underneath the cottage is a modernized Batcave, which houses a Batwing, along with his other gear (Batmobile, batarangs, etc.).

Lex Luthor's Motivation
Lex Luther (who is rumored to have longish red hair at the beginning of the film) thinks he is God's gift to humanity and the best that humanity has to offer, which leads to his hatred of Superman. Because Superman is basically a "god," it makes Lex feel less than perfect. Lex tries to sway people to dislike and fear Superman - and many people are swayed. Some see Superman as a hero, while others see him as the ultimate threat.

Rumor: THE BATMAN for 2019; Ben Affleck to Star and Direct

Batman-First-Look-Batsuit-Colored-051314-Dragonlord.jpg

The most conspicuous absence from the list of planned DC Comics superhero movies that recently surfaced was a solo Batman movie. Ben Affleck will debut as Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and is signed to a multi-picture deal, which includes his return in Justice League.

A new rumor, being reported by the Latino Review, suggests that Warner Bros. is looking at releasing Affleck’s first solo Batman film in 2019. The film currently has the working title The Batman. The report also speculates that Affleck could direct The Batman himself, suggesting that caveat may be responsible for the long contract negotiations involved with getting Affleck into the Batsuit in the first place.

As the report notes, the timetable for a 2019 Batman movie starring Affleck checks out. Filming for Justice League should finish by summer of 2015, leaving Affleck plenty of time to work on his next non-superhero project, Live by Night, before donning the cape and cowl again to begin production on The Batman in 2017 or 2018.

New Details on Lex Luthor and LexCorp for Batman v Superman

Jesse-Eisenberg-Lexcorp-Google-Dragonlord.jpg

Production is well under way on director Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and new details on Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor have surfaced. According to Batman-News, LexCorp scenes were filmed over the past two days and a source reveals that Eisenberg has a lot of hair. It’s not Eisenberg’s typical curly look — it’s a bit longer, kind of loose and wavy, and it’s dirty blonde. Eisenberg’s Luthor has spastic mannerisms, like a 20-something guy that pounds energy drinks all day. The scenes shot reportedly take place towards the beginning of the movie… so maybe there’s still a chance that Lex Luthor could show up bald by the end?

An unidentified insider from Batman-News reveals that the production will be shooting scenes at the LexCorp offices starting next week. The offices are being described as a "Google-type" workplace with an edgy, youthful vibe filled with an eclectic mix of employees ranging from rock and roll types to hipsters and nerds. The scenes will be filmed on June 12 and 13, with the actors wearing layers with long sleeves, blazers and lightweight jackets. Jesse Eisenberg is reportedly involved in the scene, but that has not been confirmed. There’s a basketball court in the lobby with a giant 30 foot neon LexCorp industries sign.

A source tells Batman News that Holly Hunter is playing a U.S. Senator. Another report from the Man Of Steel Fan Page reports that a scene involving the military will be shot on June 11 in Detroit, with the production seeking extras with military backgrounds. Jesse Eisenberg previously revealed that he will start shooting on June 11, so it's possible that he will be involved in this scene as well. [posted first by Fedorer]

But then, John Campea, quite rightly, points out that Jared Leto is older than Ben Affleck, so that kinda messes the whole theory up.

This has been done to death. LetoJoker doesn't have to be older than Bats. Affleck is playing an older(retiered/half retierd) Batman with some grey-ish looking hair. LetoJoker is methead skinny looking guy in his late 20s or early 30s.

I think that's why they aged BatFleck in BvS. This way they can play around with the timeline of the Batman solo films. Remove a few greys, give him some casual clothes and there. Suddenly he's 5 years younger. Leto is like a moden Dorian Grey, he has a selfie from American Psycho era stashed away somewhere that ages for him. I doubt he'll noticeably age in the next few years.

Ezra Miller Confirms The Flash Will Be in BATMAN V SUPERMAN

If done right, the cameos will set up DC for movies like wonder woman, flash, aquaman, cyborg ect.

It's already setting it up. BVS isn't even out yet and all those stand alone movies are in various stages of production

I guess Flash is from a fucked up future. I think that's a cool, quick way to introduce the character.

10 bucks says he's from a post Justice Leauge movie future where Darkseid or Brainiac pushed everyones shit in.

You know that explosive opening scene of "Man of Steel" on Krypton? Ten bucks the opening scene of BvS is the Fucked up future where Berry tries to run back in time to save humanity and Para-Demons or Brainiac forces are trying to stop him.
