BATMAN V SUPERMAN (Dragonlord's Review, post #1)

If you have seen BATMAN V SUPERMAN, how would you rate it?

BVS employed the "everyone in power is stupid" concept.

The typical " all politicians are clueless, dumb, and ungrateful, and all army intelligence is pathetic."

For most of the movie they thought superman used a gun to kill terrorists.

Like they all missed him destroying super aliens from deep space without s gun but to kill humans he needs a gun with special bullets.

The movie just had so many stupid concepts in it

I have to disagree with you here. To me that makes sense because that's also what made Man of Steel so goddamn stupid.

In MOS, the world learns of his existence by Zod demanding they turn him over. The Supes fights them and somehow he winds up much beloved. The world doesn't work like that, especially not such a gritty world they were painting. The entire planet would be like, "Let's turn this asshole over before they toast our planet." No one would have any attachment to him.

For Superman to be Superman he needs to be beloved and for that to happen he needs to put time in helping people and changing lives for the better.

That's also one of the reasons the end of BvS is so weak. No one cares about him, not in the movie or in the audience, and they don't know anything about him. As you indicated with that bullet plot.

But That still doesn't answer the question, why would superman use guns to kill terrorists. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Also how dumb does the population have to be to think superman could be turned over to authorities. As if world governments are somehow better than superman.

They also shouldn't have made him "die" at the end either.

Because nobody knows anything about him so why wouldn't they conclude that? You're totally right: it's dumb. But, in my mind, it's at least consistant with the dumbness of MOS. So they kind of lucked out that two dumbs make an explanation.

Hey! have some respect! Murica can do anything it puts its mind to!

It wasn't that bad but the editing was shit and made the movie feel choppy as shit. Izenberg was lame but I quite enjoyed the Bars/Supes & Doomsday fights.

It could have been better but it's not the steaming pile of shit people make it out to be.

I have yet to see the extended cut.

That's another example of how awful the editing was. Apparently lexs goons killed some people and made it look like they were fried from supes heat vision.

THAT was why they thought he was involved. There's no way to know that without seeing the extended version though.

So many plot elements didn't make sense because the part explaining them was edited out.

All I know is a movie thst had this gigantic of a budget (410 million) had some shit CGI.

The original lord of the rings movies from the earlier parts of the 2000s had much classier and better cgi.

That Doomsday looked like a glorified video game cut scene.

This movie fell flat on all fronts. No one wanted or needed to see a batman vs superman movie. This was rushed and shoved down our throats.

You could just tell this movie was thought up by some bean counters who don't have a creative bone in their body sitting in some office at the Warner Bros. studios.

completely agree.....sadly

Mike even if superman killed terrorists who the fuck would care.

No one. It's all senseless.

Yeah but Joe they all can see what he could do. He did stop the alien invasion. It was covered heavily in the movie.

The world thinks Superman is basically a god.

Anyone with half a brain watching tHat would instantly know superman would never need a gun.

Also Batman being the World's greatest detective not knowing what a manipulative bastard Luthor is. Is borderline offensive.

Edit: The more I think about this movie, the more irritated I get.
plus Ben Afflack. Why in the fuck won't this guy go away? Fucking Hollywoo.

love the movie

More holes than swiss cheese.
  • If WW used the spear, Superman might be still alive. She is after all better at using melee weapons and all that stuff
  • Louis Lane was a decent strong female lead in Man of Steel, here she's full damsel in distress tard' (throws the spear in the lake beneath the castle, comes back later on and is stuck under rubble, Superman has to waste time to bail her out)
  • Kryptonian tech ain't as advanced as well thought it was if it couldn't tell the difference between a guy with taped on fingerprints and the real dude
  • US gubbermint believes Superman needs to use guns, lol. And with all the drone strikes used (and the one they even sent out), why would they give a shit about a bunch of dead terrorists anyways?

There's prob more, but that comes up at the top of my head

you were very generous with the 7 out of 10...i gave it a 4-5

I'm not a DC fanboy and I rather not overanalyze a movie, but sit back and enjoy what I can in the moment, then rip the movie later.

Some, who are either DC or Marvel fanboys went into the theater with the intention of ripping the movie if it didn't meet their exact expectations. And since every fanboy has different expectations, that pipedream is impossible to fullfill.

Does the movie has it's problems? Shit yeah it does. But do the things that were done well overshadow the problems? IMO, shit yeah it does.

The fact that this movie has the best Superman since Christopher Reeves, the best Batman since Michael Keaton, and the first time Wonder Woman has graced the silver screen (and Gal Gabbot knocked it out of the park) combined makes up for alot of the mistakes, and earns a 7/10 from me.

Then the extended version clarifies alot of the missing plot elements and pacing problems, earning it a 8.5/10.

If they had somehow given a better explanation than "MARTHA! WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME!" then it would have earned a 9/10 from me.

Yeah I gave a long list in the original bvs thread and got accused of being a fanboy. Nope just a regular dude able to see all the plot holes.

I love batman and I love superman. Like I wanted a movie with both of them in it to be mediocre.
