Is the following routine good for base cardio?
20-30 min of low/medium paced jogging followed by a little rest and then 4x100m sprints.
Done 3 times a week.
You could do worse, as you will get adaptations from both the hi- and -low intensity training. But how good of a program really depends on a multitude of factors, eg your goals, your current fitness level, etc.
If you're trying to build an aerobic base stick to slow steady state runs 3-5 x week. 30 mins +.
Do this for at least 2-3 months before introducing any speed/anaerobic work. Don't do any high intensity intervals until your 2-3 months are up. After that, start adding on intervals, tempo and speed work.
