Multiplat BALDUR'S GATE III

Inferior to the Paladin/Fighter multiclass or Pure Fighter class.

Warlocks are my favorite class with the Eldrich Blast & Devil's Sight, but for a pure mele build with an OP weapon there's better options.
Correct...but it's not supposed to be pure it's in addition to devils sight and Eblast...so you can silver sword soul breaker or whatever it's called and get an extra attack if the situation calls for it. Hex blade gith with silver sword is a great main character, like a dark bard.

Am I missing something, or besides the Githyanki Monetary is 'The Mountain Pass' shockingly baren of content?

Nope, it's all pretty much in the monastery. Although there's tons of shit to do there including the Blood of Lathander and an area on the roof that takes some jumping to get to (nothing major except an ok weapon).

I started a new playthrough since my my first go around around launch (stopped in buggy Act 3).

I never played with any mods, outside some early camera one, but lost myself in all the options. The best ones I'm using are the WASD movement and native camera tweaks. It's like playing Dragon Age Origins with a better camera. You can tap the caps lock key and float your camera around to get a good look at things. It's a Nexus only mod though, the only mod I'm using outside what Larian lets us install.

I remember being able to tilt the camera in an old one, but these new ones are so much better, and I'm only playing on my PC.

I got a bunch of clothing, armor, and class mods as well, but my fav thing to mess with is the photomode they added. It's right up there with Cyberpunk's now. I like that they illuminate the models by default. With Cyberpunk you had to bring in lights and do it manually, though you can do some cool things there.

There's a really great party increase mod (PixellBytes something - no Nexus required). What I like about it is that it's a cantrip, so while in camp you can cast a party reduction spell to allow you to sleep, then cast to a "return to how it was" so you can leave camp exactly how your party was. It's super easy, especially if you were to have a large party (I'm sticking with 6) and apparently it alleviates the issues with other mods in certain places I was reading about.

I'm having an absolute blast running through Act 1. I'm pretty much through every possible quest/encounter now, just have the hag and those Spiders to take care of. I'm also trying to KO Minthera to get her in my party, but it's just not working as Haislin won't leave. It would be nice if I could at least take her bra and panties for Shadowheart again ,but they patched that out lol

I can't wait to see what Larian is cooking next.

Read they just dropped a bunch more mods for console. Including a grenade launcher.

I've used the party increase mod and love it. You are right about it being so easy to use.

Im like 3 or 4 playthroughs from diving into mods. I just got to act 3 with a swashbuckler and it's the first time I've played as rouge. Super fun, not over powered and not under powered. Out of combat, picks locks, disarms traps, can speak well enough and sneak great...in combat, super easy to proc it's version of sneak attack on almost every hit and disarm on bonus action, can use a bow and dual or something different because of that extra feat at level 9 or 10 which kinda makes up for no extra attack in terms of character building. I used the graceful cloth to get 20dex with only 1 feat which gives 3 feats to add some cool shit (dual wield/sharpshooter is what I used so far). Been a blast.

Before using mods I want to see what druids, paladins and rangers have to offer. Those are the only classes I haven't played. I know paladins are cream in this game but I've never liked playing them, dont like sticking with an oath and I feel like they are pompous pricks. Druids have always felt like weak sauce shit for hippies. I love rangers, but it feels like they are lackluster on paper in bg3 compared with something like a swords bard.

Oath of Vengeance paladins are pretty easy to play and not break your oath.

Druids are fun to morph into the various animals, and the new starry form is pretty fun. Plus, who else are you going to get to turn into an Owlbear and come flying off the top rope?

Gloom stalker rangers are a great class and can be pretty OP. I love the new swarm keepers. Really easy to build a lightning centered TAV, and they can be really mobile. Beast master allowing you to gain a companion adds some fun. I once had a bear use sticky fingers on Kethric and swiped his hammer - and then beat him with it to add insult to injury. Fun times.

I'm approaching the end of Act2, and I can testify that although there's a few difficulty mods added... more & smarter enemies... having a party of 6 characters that have Devil's Sight & Magical Darkness completely breaks the game.

I can can count on one hand the amount of times my characters have gone down to half health.

That said, I'm following dedicated builds for all six characters to act as a team. Having two more characters for enemies to attack, with full health pools, and attack points makes it too easy.

In my next playthrough (Female Githyanki / Dark Urge) I'm probably going to add a mod that gives all enemies 250% hit points and lower my party to 5 characters.

I avoided this place on my first run, as the warning to finish quests scared me away. I also thought it was either mountain pass or Underdark to move on to the Shadow area, didn't know you could do both.

There was far less here than I expected, but the scenery was beautiful, and inside the Monastery had incredible lighting, cool place too. It made me hate the Githyanki even more, but I liked learning more about their culture.

I pretty much avoided anything to do Lae'zel on that first run, so it was nice to have fresh content here, as I kept her in my party the entire time during the mountain pass. Now that I'm done with it, she's back on the bench full time.

@Batjester I just did that Blood of Lathander quest, I really liked that, especially meeting the Githyanki goddess. I like that if you piss her off, she just ends you, no chance for a battle. Did you destroy the Monastery? I kept it standing, just so I could kill/loot every Githyanki in there.

I think I managed to get Minthara in my party as well, despite siding with the Grove again. I was able to rescue Haslin and finish his questline after KO'ing her (no death blow). If you don't do it right, you can't complete his quest, so I should be good. I'll find out for sure once I get to Moonrise. You can still loot her body.

This is the method if anyone wants to try the same thing.

  1. Proceed to the Goblin Camp and find Halsin in the Worg Pens. Tell him you will deal with the goblin leaders and have him wait there.
  2. Do not speak to Minthara or Dror Ragzlin about the Grove location, as this can trigger the "Raid the Grove" quest and make her unrecruitable.
  3. Kill the other two leaders, Priestess Gut and Dror Ragzlin, first. This can be done by isolating them to prevent the entire camp from becoming permanently hostile at once. Ensure no war drums are used to call for help.
  4. Before engaging Minthara, make her "Temporarily Hostile" to ensure she spawns in Act 2. This can be done by committing a minor crime in front of her, such as stealing an item from her room or attacking the scrying eye with a ranged attack when she's not in dialogue.
  5. Toggle the Non-Lethal Attacks passive in your hotbar.
  6. Use only melee attacks to knock her out. Ranged attacks and spells will still kill her, even with the non-lethal passive toggled on. Be careful with damage riders (e.g., elemental damage) as they may cause a killing blow.
  7. Do not long rest after knocking her out until all three leaders are dealt with and you've returned to Halsin.
  8. Return to Halsin and inform him the leaders are dead. He will then go to the Grove.
  9. Attend the tiefling party at your camp. After a long rest, Minthara's unconscious body should disappear, indicating the method worked

I wiped out the entire place and then went for the Blood of Lathander. I did manage to piss off the Gith goddess once. Well worth having to go back (about an hour if I remember right) to my previous save just for the laughs. I've learned to spread my party out before that fight starts.

I got some really cool pics of my party outside of the monastery. Playing around with the photo mode is so much fun.

You still have to recruit Minthara at Moonrise Tower and I she can still refuse to join your party if I'm not mistaken.

The hardest fight for me every play through is with those fucking gnolls outside the cave. The only "easy" time I had there was by having the leader kill all his followers and then himself.

Okay... This is bizarre.

I'm playing through Act3 and I get back to 'camp' in the lower city... And Jaheira is dead.

IMG_20251123_230954_729_1.jpg

Haven't seen her since the end of Act2, or the beginning of Act3, so I'm curious how this happened.

And Withers won't resurrect her.

Had that happen to haslin one time. He died in the goblin camp fight, I looted all his stuff and then his naked dead body was next his tent at camp the rest of the game.
