Multiplat BALDUR'S GATE III

I am near the end of the game in my first playthrough. I am doing co op with my wife. The only mod I used was unlock level curve.

I have been extremely impressed with the game thus far. Planning to do another run in the near future with more mods and maybe a harder difficulty.

This question might not apply to you guys, but in case it does, how do you think the coop mode works for someone who's not a huge gamer? I'd like to play with someone who doesn't play a huge amount of video games, I'm wondering if she'd just be overwhelmed.
Again, if this doesn't apply to your missus, no offence intended.

No it totally does apply. The only other gamr my wife has played was Hogwarts legacy. She does play normal tabletop D&D which helped a great deal.

She struggled at first but was always having fun. It annoyed me a couple times where she got us TPKed but I could just bite my tongue because it wasnt like we play on Honour mode lol

She actually wanted to restart immediately after finishing it and says she wants to play DoS II after we finish our second run.

Thanks, that's really useful. Especially the part about being patient haha.

So I've played BG3 twice last year and enjoyed it and been getting the itch to play it again... With mods.

My biggest criticism with BG3, besides the overreliance of D&D's systems, is the 4-character party. Its my opinion that these types of games should either have 5 or 6 characters in a party.

So, I downloaded a mod that allows a 6-character party

"But that'll make it significantly easier, right?"
Not if I double the enemy numbers.
6-character party... double the enemies... Should be pretty challenging.

Another thing that wasn't explained well in the game was the difference between dark sight & devil's sight... For example Drows have dark sight so I figured my main character would be able to see through Darkness Magic... Nope.
I figured it was a bug.
Shadow Monks & Shadow Sorcerers can see through Darkness Magic.... But only their own. If they're in a cloud of Darkness cast by another character they're blinded.

Now that I know the details, I'm making my entire 6-character party Warlocks because they all get Devil's Sight, which will make that far easier to organize.

Between the Warlock Sub-Classes & Multi-classes my 6-character party will still have a lot of variety.

Warlock-Monk
Warlock-Monk
Warlock-Sorcerer
Warlock-Bard
Warlock-Cleric
Warlock-Ranger

Did a playthrough with 2 non D&D friends. They play videogames just not all that much and not D&D. We had a blast. You have to kinda accept that the playthrough is gonna be crazy compared to a solo run. If you've played the game before then I would let the friend do all the talking and leading...just follow them around keeping them alive so they can fuck up the next part while you sit back and laugh to yourself.

I didn't get these in my previous playthrough of BG3, but I'm happy to report back that the exploits to get -

*Silver Sword of the Astral Plane
*Helldusk Armor

- still work, post Patch 8.

The one that I've only been able to get once is the Everburn Blade from Commander Zhalk on the Nautiloid. If you don't have someone who can cast Command: Drop, you're pretty much screwed.

Shadowheart does that.
You just have to activate the 'Command: Drop' spell for her.

Did that in this playthrough too.

Yeah, last time I was doing my playthrough for some reason I couldn't access the spell.

By the way, a little note the tutorials forgot to mention about getting the Silver Greatsword so early, is if you immediately go into the mountain pass where the demon character meets you at your camp when you come back to the main area the grove is overrun.

So if you were planning on saving the teflings and recruiting Karlach, it's best to wait for getting the Silver Sword until the grove is saved.

Interesting. I know if you wait too long to rescue Halsin the goblins kill him in the pen.

I keep having Rapheal show up in weird places instead of the bridge where you have to jump to get to the other side.

There is also a way to reach Karlach that bypasses the bridge, but it's a bit of a pain to get through (you have to jump across a stream, but you need to go on some rocks). You can get to her before you get to the paladins trying to kill her.

So I'm up to Level 5, with two of my party as Open Fist Monks, but I can't figure out why one is so much more powerful than the other.IMG_20251102_205254_193_1.jpg

Might be due to clothing/rings?

Checked it and there wasn't anything she wasn't proficient in. Unequipted everything and equipped everything.

I was in the Githyanki Base in the mountain pass, so I reclassed her as a Light Cleric with The Blood Of Lathander.
I've heard it's the best build in the game for Shadowheart.

I reclassed Karlach as my replacement Monk, to pair with Astarion who is an Open Hand monk. Then I realized do I want to have two of the exact same monks in my party?
So I found this build and realized it'd be perfect for Karlach -

Somewhat off-topic:

I listen to a lot of YouTube videos while I work, and after checking out dozens of build guides over the last week this popped into my suggestions, and from the three videos I've listened to it's a high-quality audio essay channel about 'fantasy' with all of the videos from the last two years are BG3 related.

Check this one out to see if it's of your taste -

Since the Silver Greatsword has multiple bonuses when used by a Gith I gave it to Lei'zel as well as the Helldusk Armor... Two of the absolute best Act3 items that can be acquired in Act1 through exploits.

I have no idea which class/multiclass would be best for this, so I asked an AI :

Edit - I'm tired of watching YouTube videos for dozens of builds that are all supposedly 'Overpowered' and/or 'Broken.'

Inferior to the Paladin/Fighter multiclass or Pure Fighter class.

Warlocks are my favorite class with the Eldrich Blast & Devil's Sight, but for a pure mele build with an OP weapon there's better options.
