Multiplat BALDUR'S GATE III

I'm interested in patch 8.

As I've babbled a few times on here, I never finished the game, was prob halfway through Act3 a few months after release due to annoying bugs.

Have their been big story or level changes since then? If I start over, which I think I'd rather do, am I looking at anything fresh to experience?

Nothing official, but I know there are some mods out there that add some more encounters, and I read somewhere that one of the mods that added some more areas.

Thx man. Im sure the update will Bork a lot of mods, but it's a good time to look at some while I wait for it.

IT IS CHRISTMAS IN APRIL! PATCH 8 HAS ARRIVED!!!!

So, what is everyone most excited about? I can't wait to see what the new classes are like. Arcane Archer here I come.

Hexblade. I've fallen in love with BG3 warlocks. They have multiple build paths from mele to magic. E blast is effective from start to finish and costs no resources. They can always drop darkness in a pinch and dominate from the shadows. You can pass a lot of dialog checks due to charisma being your main stat. To top it off, I think warlocks have the best theme/gameplay combo....casting fear from the center of a dark cloud or blasting someone back into a hadar cloud is some god tier warlock behaviour. You don't have to be evil but you will always be scary. I used to think a bard was mandatory in BG3 until I rolled a warlock.

Swashbuckler weapon master time.
Paladin hexblade dirge
Ah damn, forgot about the swashbuckler. I really liked the swashbuckler in 3.5 edition. If I recall they used their intelligence for damage or attack which let you make a trickster type with some wizard levels. Man BG3 about to takeover my game life again.

In 5e/BG3 charisma is secondary stat outside dex. It is easier to get sneak attack in combat and get out without having to use disengage.

Just got withers and had my first long rest. Hexblade has been nasty for the first 2 levels. Med armor, weapon bind, shield prof and shield spell on level 1 is kinda nuts. Blast until the enemy is close then swing. Wrathful smite froze the beefy skeleton in withers room. Easy breezy opening for honor mode. Time to respec the companions into new subclasses. Death for shadowheart, swash for the vampire and I'm thinking shadow sorcerer for gale cause I like sorcerers better than wizards.

Started my first playthrough, finally. I'm about 10 hours in, taking things slowly. Mostly I'm still deciding who I want my 3 main companions to be, and how to spec people. Wyll seems pretty useless so far, but the Githyanki woman disapproves of every choice I make, so Wyll is in for the moment, haha.

The game can feel pretty overwhelming at times, it's choice after choice after choice.

I found Wyl to be great, better than Gale IMO (I don't use magic users to their full potential though), because he is more versatile.

My main 4 were always Me (usually a ranger), Shadowheart, Wyl, and Karlach. If you use the unlimited party limit mod - I recommend only going 6 characters.

When I do my next playthrough (I"m starting next week after getting back from WrestleMania) I'm probably running various combos of:
Me - Arcane Archer
Shadowheart - Death Domain Cleric
Wyl - Pact of the Blade Warlock
Karlach - Path of the Giants Barbarian
Gale - Shadow Domain Sorcerer
Asterion - Swashbuckler Rogue
Lazael - ??? probably Oath of the Crown Paladin

Hexblade warlock is about as good of a 1 level dip as you can get if your multi classing a charisma character. You get a bunch of very useful things out of that first level.

Weapon bind gives proficiency and uses charisma as modifier means you can use any mele weapon in the game at any time and hit with it.
Bonus action curse that lowers crit roll and heals if you kill cursed enemy.
Eldritch blast
Shield spell
Med armor proficiency
Shield proficiency
Could make a nasty sorcerer with that. Or take 2 warlock levels and grab 2 invocations.

Hope you stick with it, it's a great game. Act 3 is where I got overwhelmed. I had to stop playing for a bit when I first hit act 3.

I didn't realise you could respec your companions with Withers! Yeah, now I'm trying out Shadowheart, Wyll and Karlach as my team. Feels more put together and makes sense storywise, especially after Wyll's transformation (that was a cool twist). and now I'm not pissing someone off with every decision I make....

Is there an 'Unofficial Best Console Mods' list?

The ones that are overwhelming positive reviews that add to the experience?

Just popping in to say I absolutely love this game. Since I started playing it about five weeks ago, I haven't played another game. If you take its parts separately none of it is so far GOAT status, but as a whole the game is incredible, everything compliments everything else and the flow of the game, the length of quests, of conversations, of camp management, makes a really enjoyable experience.

I only have about 45 minutes a day to play as life is very busy at the moment, but in the summer I should have a bit more free time. I think I'm more looking forward to BG3 than I am to enjoying the sun <lol>

I'm playing a Paladin and have been resisting the green Githyanki woman's increasingly aggressive advances lmao
