Multiplat BALDUR'S GATE III

Shotgun mod came out for console and a whole bunch of new classes. One of classes is a raptor tamer and you can now get Handsome Squidward mod for Asatoarion lol

Yes other than ER this is best game I've played in years. I think it's better than ER but I will acknowledge that ER could be better to others.
Oh god

Okay I'm doing it.

So is it like classic BG? Not like Diablo 4 right?

I only briefly played the old games and I can't remember them much cause it was like 15 years ago at this point. It's not like Diablo 4 I know that much. Very similar to Pillars of Eternity if you played that but just better in every single way and when I say better I mean like they aren't even in the same league.

On sale on Steam, should I get it?
It's worth it full price. It's in a league of its own, raising the CRPG bar so high I don't think anyone's going to touch it for a long time.

if you don't like turn based combat/RPG's, this might make you a fan. I converted several friends to the genre.

It's not like classic BG, which was real time strategy with pause. This is pure turn based, but it's much more than the label. It's pretty much an immersive sim with all the ways you can tackle combat using the environment, spells and abilities to defeat enemies.

The production values are off the charts too; incredible writing, voice acting, dialogue, animations, attention to lore etc... It's as flawless a game can get now that the bugs are fixed.

What mods do you recommend?
Expanded party limit is a must IMO, and improved UI. Any of the cosmetic ones are cool add-ons. For your first play through (and trust me, you will play through more than once) you could even run it without any of the mods and it will blow your mind.

EDIT: I will say that if you choose to run the extended party mod on your first playthrough, limit yourself to maybe 6 total party members, including yourself. Half the fun of the playthrough is wondering how things might have played out with different people in the party and makes a 2nd playthrough more fun.

Well I am absolutely enamored. The weekend was nothing but car washing, Scotch sipping and playing this game. It has been a long, long time where I've jumped headlong into a game with almost no prior experience. I knew it was very well-received but I knew nothing other than a trailer I saw for it a while back. I'd say yeah if you were disappointed with turn recent Dragon Age games have taken, this is what makes you feel like you're playing something like the original. But this is much, much more in-depth. I picked a Paladin and am having a fantastic time. The story is compelling and mysterious.

I still haven't reached the healer to get the Mindflayer parasites out of us. The rogue sneaked out of camp late at night and then made a comment about a dead animal we found- I'm thinking he's a vampire in disguise, although he's not really doing a very good job of disguising himself- he looks the part, what with the little fangs and red eyes.

I've found secret caves with goblins, a hideout for bandits and An ancient undead guy who will hire mercs for me or res my party.

Shadowheart is absolutely adorable

Shadowheart is great. Her side story is IMO the best in the game.

Unless a game has a big enough/annoying flaw that a mod fixes, like Kingdom Come Deliverance's bullshit save system, or Resident Evil games terrible FOV's, I always suggest going with vanilla.

This game is near perfect vanilla, but I highly recommend native camera tweaks and WASD character movement. I played with a controller, so I didn't need the WASD mod, but you def want to be able to pitch the camera and see more of the gorgeous world.

Party Limit Begone

I'd say use this after you played with the 4 character limit for a bit. I'm still about a 1/3 through chapter 3 where I left off due to some terrible bugs at the time. I haven't played since Sept-ish last year, and may just start over using this mod whenever I finish Rogue Trader (another CRPG gem). I always agonized on who to bring with me, but for a first time playthrough, I think the game would be too easy playing with more than 4.

It looks like there are some great character creation enhancement mods, which I'd like to spice up my avatar with.

My first playthrough was as a hunter and the class kinda sucks.

Also, Karlach.

Karlach is great.

With gear and bonuses I had her and Lae’zel bouncing all over the map destroying everything while my hunter fucking missed most his shots or did dick for damage, with the fourth party member healing.

Gonna have another go when I can with the bigger party and just wreck shit.

I killed it as a Ranger my first playthrough. If you were missing that often you needed the Archery hat (which looks cool anyways) or the gloves of Dexterity.

For those that didn't play Divinity Original Sin 2 which BG3 based its interface, mechanics and template off of, you should all purchase it. I knew Baldurs Gate 3 would be a game changer when Larian Studios were announced as the developers 5 years ago and I was very impressed with its beta release 4 years ago. It was the same way with me with DOS2 when it had its beta release.

Hopefully Larian makes another Divinity Original Sin because they are riding high with the last sequel and of course Baldurs Gate goodwill
