I don’t consider it a Velvets album either. Oh! Sweet Nuthin is my favorite Velvets song. In 2013 I went to the Bridge School Benefit specifically to see Tom Waits. As it happened, Lou Reed died earlier that day. That night a bunch of the musicians got together onstage and did Oh! Sweet Nuthin in Lou’s memory.

Man. What a great memory to have. It was one of only a couple of songs that I sang lead on when I used to be in a band. There are some great cover versions out there, most of them live. We always had fun playing it.

13 Songs About Breaking Down (inspired by the starter in my car going out this morning )

1. The Rolling Stones - Stop Breaking Down
2. Bruce Springsteen - I'm Goin' Down
3. Warren Zevon - Studebaker

I left my home in Monterey
Just another no prospects man
Who'd rather work in the foundries
Than put fishes in a can
I'm 25 but I have not traveled far
And I spend all my money on this misbegotten car

And I'm up against it all like a leaf against the wind
And the Studebaker keeps on breakin' down again
This Studebaker keeps on breakin' down again

I thought I'd go to Fresno to see my friend
This damn Studebaker keeps on breaking down again

I was speedin' south on 99
When the manifold started smokin'
I ran her off the shoulder
And now the axle's broken
Made a sound that cracked my heart in half
With less than half a-, half pint of vodka left

I'm up against it all like a leaf against the wind
And the Studebaker keeps on breakin' down again
This
