Black History Month and that is what is considered to be the very first recording by a black in recording history. Yes it is pretty shocking to go with that title. Right there with the first black QB in NFL history.....Willie Thrower....yes that is real.
I appreciate that but that's not gonna fly on Sherdog regardless of context. We typically card users who use slurs in any context.

Obviously my intent was to share the history of black music being it;s Black History Month. So we need to ignore the first recording by a black artist? I wasn't trying to do anything other than share the history, how many here had no idea that song existed, I'm betting everyone well now ya do.. This is a negative?

Intent....is everything. My intent was sharing our history.

I am black....Elzio?....so no way I degrade, belittle, disrespect my race. Just sharing our history which is Black History Month. Hell.....race records?

You wouldn't believe some of the lyrics in those old blues songs, trust me!

How about...

Gonna cut your throat mama, drink your blood like wine....Pegleg Howell 1926

So ya need me to delete that for something else?
Sherdog is owned by a parent company that sets the rules and guidelines. They take a pretty firm stance on the usage of slurs. I don't doubt your intentions were to educate. But unfortunately, this isn't the place for that.

That was just a song title a very real one and a part of history nobody was trying.....use a slur....and that is very obvious. BUT....I get it and will never happen again.

What would amaze people is just how many old songs are full of slurs. A very real part of music history.

How about you google the lyrics of that song you posted, especially the second verse?

Intent is not everything or else anyone using a slur of any kind could simply say, "I meant well when I said it," and be excused.

I think it's pretty obvious that this was just a history thing, time to move on.

Hey, how about some songs by black guys.......then get all uptight, come on. Hell......let's talk Black History.....ok I did.

Black Patti Records......an old record company owned by blacks, nothing but black artists singing songs for a black audience. Gotta love the history and it's not always sweet.
