The first two studio albums Nothing's Shocking, then Ritual de lo Habitual. Ritual is my personal favorite. Their first self titled album is a live recording. Ignore their later two albums that they released after Ritual (Strays and The Great Escape Artist) Both were recorded without original bass player Eric Avery whose bass lines began many of their most epic songs and who contributed (but never given enough or any credit for) to the lyrics and overall art direction of the band. They were also recorded long after lead singer Perry Farrell had completely lost his mind and talent for writing lyrics.

I'd also say that from 87-91 they were the best live band going.

First time hearing this and i want to say it's beautiful though that doesn't cover it, it's really extraordinarily beautiful. I can see why you'd want to carry this with you - listening it's like alchemically downloading every art form, holding them in a distilled timeless mist.

I've only just discovered him but man, I'm blown away by Desmond Blue. That dude is awesome

Check those three out. I love all their songs from the original lineup (they are my all time favorite band) but those three are the best if I had to pick a top 3.

I graduated from high school in 1992 and lived in the sticks, so sadly didn't get to see this band live during that period, but Nothing's Shocking and Ritual were on constant rotation in my car's tape deck at the time. All these years later I still love Ritual in particular. Awesome band during their brief peak.

Yeah, Desmond is great. He's on one of my favorite jazz albums, Concierto by Jim Hall. If you don't know it, you should:



He's more cool jazz so I'm not as up on his music, I tend more towards hard bop, straight ahead, bebop, modal, etc.
