Right on - this reminded me of when a friend introduced me to their music (roughly 20 years ago) - he said something like "their new singer's vocals go really well with the music, the old singer sounds like an angry drunk guy interrupting an In Flames rehearsal".

I died inside when Angela left
It feels like a business more than a band, like KISS or something. To have Jeff Fooking Loomis in your band and not have him write songs is purely a business move, and if/when Alissa leaves, they'll get another singer to replace her, and it won't be bad, but it won't be good either. Just my 2 cents, maybe I'm just old and miserable :)

recorded one album, which was re recorded with a different singer before release. Allegedly defecated on another band member, got fired. Lawsuits. Good era.

Oh man I vaguely remember that reality show he won to join INXS. Little off-topic, but there were some other early-mid 2000s one-off reality shows with real musicians that weren't half-bad, like that VH1 show with Scott Ian/Bonham's son / Sebastian Bach / Evan Seinfeld / ted nugent, and that MTV show where Ozzy took out a bunch of local band dudes on Ozzfest and the winner got to play the 2nd stage. For sure, it's all probably scripted, but felt more entertaining and less derivative than "American Idol", etc.
