The card was a split-site doubleheader with the opening bout, featherweight world titleholder Gary Russell Jr.’s unanimous decision against mandatory challenger Joseph Diaz Jr. in a hometown defense at the MGM National Harbor in the Washington, D.C., suburb of Oxon Hill, Maryland, averaging 487,000 viewers and peaking at 567,000. Stevenson was fighting for the first time in 11 months and Russell for the first time in one year.
