So is Thanos trapped inside the Soul Gem at the end or what?

I'm pretty certain that's where he is

I don't think he's trapped. I think when he snapped his fingers the soul gem/Gamora's soul was acting as his conscience.

Well is his physical for inside the gem or is that his soul that's inside the gem.

He doesn't have the Gauntlet on when they showed him.

Also how did you like the movie

Oh and in case everyone needed another reason to hate Dr Strange's decisions in this film:

Anyone remember the scene (right around Spiderman joining the fight) where Strange's assistant chops off the large Thanos Assassin's hand by closing a portal on it?

...yeah. There's your entire movie

Would have taken all of 2 seconds when Thanos was being held down

This is assuming that Thanos would have fallen for the same trick. Strange and Wong use magic, and they don't just instantaneously make portals, they do shit with their hands to create them--it takes a few seconds to open and close one.

And i only saw the movie once so far, but from what I remember, it wasn't really Wong's plan to amputate his arm. His plan was to teleport him to another location, and he had time to close the portal before the guy could get back through the portal.
Thanos on the other hand, has the space gem, the reality gem, and the power gem. He could use any 3 of those gems to counter a portal. The space gem would allow him to instantly be anywhere else. I'm sure he could do something with the reality stone to counteract a portal. And can he even be physically harmed while using the power gem? He was eating Hulk punches like jellybeans. Amputation may not even be possible

And Strange wasn't even there when Wong did his move, so it's not like it was a move he saw, and then chose to forget when he fought Thanos

It's just his soul talking to Gamora's soul, he wasn't physically there, his body was in Wakanda. I think the person that's sacrificed stays in the soul gem to act as the wielder's conscience since the power of the soul stone deals with people's being.

I love the movie. I wrote my thoughts on post #1441.

wait thor stabbed him and he ported out at the end. His body is someplace but I don't think on earth. Now is he alive walking around or is his body lifeless. I can't wait for the next movie.

Yeah I did also. The movie was just fucking awesome from start to finish. They hit every note, even the comedy was great. The way they used the power sets were amazing. The way they filmed the scenes and the usage of the powers all together was also great. And that thor comeback at the end was amazing and showed how powerful he should be in all the films. And that Ebony Maw was fucking incredible

He went to some other planet to watch the sun rise on a grateful universe. He's still alive. The soul stone thing was just when he activated the gauntlet to kill half the universe. I think that's just a feature of the stone. You don't just sacrifice the person you love you have to confront them when you want to use its power.

I had high hopes for the battle scenes because Civil War had my favorite action scenes and IW exceeded my expectations. The Russos gave everyone their moments.

My theory based on nothing at all other than a gut instinct about where Thanos is at the end: Gamora’s home planet

I love all these characters...

That last arc of the film was very moving. Obviously all the vaporized heroes will return but I still couldn't help but feel shocked and sad at losing those guys (particularly Spidey).

The Black Order was good overall but Ebony Maw was by far the best out of the four. He was a joy to watch.

The Guardians are awesome and I thought I had enough of the lighthearted vibe they bring but this film proved that they are integral to the MCU. They consistently provide laughs and are just entertaining to watch. Can't wait for Vol 3.

Vision and Loki really suffered brutal deaths at the hand of Thanos. Also shout out to Hiddleston for portraying an iconic villain/antihero for such a long time. He was just as integral to the MCU as Thor if you ask me.

Its obvious Feige and co didn't expect Black Panther to take the world by storm the way that it did hence the drastic underutilization of T'Challa and the Wakandans in the film compared to the heavy focus they got in the trailers and marketing (obviously after BP's success).

Speaking of T'Challa, it was awesome watching him and Cap sprint Usain Bolt style against the outrider army. The crowd cheered heavily at that scene.

Thor's lightning smash was a fan fav moment as was Doc Strange's multi-arm clone attack. Great visual effects.

Seeing as how at least one of the OGs will permanently die in the next film, I think the MCU is in great hands with the new guard (T'Challa, Spidey, the Sorcerer Supreme and Carol Danvers).

P.S. Nick Fury (Sam Jackson) being vaporized before he can utter 'motherfvcker' was hilariously meta.

I am of the opinion that Hulk didn't want to come out because he knew they raped fhe shit out of his character with this whole Ruffalo Hulk version already. He probably just wanted to go back to Norton or even Bana.

The other Hulk movies sucked worse.

Nice to see I'm, maybe temporarily, off your ignore list for you to tell me your opinion.

I wasn't making a movie by movie comparison.

Caught a second viewing just now. Still awesome. Thor is a boss.
Also, Red Skull pronounces Thanos the way I've always pronounced Thanos.

I like that.
Thanos does see himself as a hero of sorts. And he told Gamora her planet was now thriving, and that was because of his actions.
Makes sense for him to retire and go admire his work.

No. I think Thanos actually died for a moment. The Soul Gem does grant insta-reincarnation, so Thanos could have actually died due to a)injuries sustained from Thor, b) the kickback from using all 6 Infinity Stones at the same time 3) He was one of the 50% that was culled. Then after death he entered the Soul Gem for a moment before being reincarnated. I'm certain Gamora's soul is trapped in there.

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be seeing Der Rote Schadel again. At a rough estimate, he's something like 120 years old. That's if he's a physical being anymore and not a spirit of some kind. It's also possible he died and/or was absorbed by the Soul Stone when Thanos took it, as technically the Skull had discharged his duty at that point.

Also Hugo the Weaving doesn’t want to reprise his role. Some other dude played him in this movie and mimicked the Weaving’s voice.

Him being on a planet is probably true, I just thought it would be bitter sweet/cool if he was sent inside the gem.

Honestly Mag you knew this movie was gonna be awesome from the opening scene. It was dark and badass right from the start, it never let up either.

Whenever people mention civil war battles they always talk about the final battle scene. Imo The other scenes with cap and BP & Falcon are really incredible. They aren't mentioned enough. The CA movies have the best action.

I believe the movie stands out becasue it captures the 'feel' of all the movies, flawlessly even. When the Guardians show up it becomes a Guardians movie. When it's Stark and Spidey (who was a stand out character) it's an Iron Man/Spidey movie. When Cap shows up it captures the feel and becomes a CA movie. Even BP, When they featured wakanda it had the feel of that movie as well and that only recently came out. It was like 5-6 different movies edited together to make one film. 9 times out of 10 that would be an awful movie, considering the cast size would make it an even bigger clusterfuck. Nope they did it flawelessly

And Ebony Maw was one of the best parts of this movie.

This is great insight. He was def weakened after using all the stones together, even the comic book touches on this to some degree.

And the fact that he did die from the combination of all that power and injury he sustained only bolsters his original claim that the 50% would be cast on all classes of civilization equally. That would also include himself.

Very very interesting grab there Rama. Big dork moment. Take your bow sir.
