Charlie Cox Says There Are No Plans Yet for Netflix Heroes to Appear in INFINITY WAR

Defenders-Avengers-Infinity-War-041116-Dragonlord.jpg

If you’re hoping to see the Defenders cross paths with the Avengers, you should probably be prepared to wait a long time. Daredevil star Charlie Cox says Marvel’s Netflix TV stars aren’t likely to show up in a Marvel Studios movie anytime soon.

"There was no conversation about joining any of the movies," Cox told CNET at a Netflix event in Paris, though he was open to the idea. "Who wouldn't want to be in the highest grossing film of all time?"

Despite being part of a universe whose mantra is “it’s all connected,” the Netflix series have a distinctly darker tone than the Marvel Studios films, so it’s understandable that they’d remain separated. It’s hard to see Cox’s dour Matt Murdock conversing with Robert Downey Jr.’s flippant Tony Stark without there being some dissonance, which isn't to say it wouldn't still be pretty cool.

Cox has his own crossover to look forward to in Marvel’s Defenders, which will bring together the stars of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Cox says the series are "very different shows...I'm interested to know how tonally they will become one."

Comments: The primary reason why the Marvel TV show characters won't likely show up in the movies is probably because of the rift between Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter [link].

Well, that sucks. Shitty reason, too, if it doesn't happen.

On a side note, I'm glad the Russo Bros got the nod to direct.

I know that it's thinking a bit far ahead, but I wonder what they're going to do after all of this is finished?

If they're still doing huge numbers, I can't see them just stopping. However, could they really reboot with new actors?

Then in like 20 years... Marvel vs DC

World destruction is not a reason?

It is. But it would have to be like Widow in the comics, who goes around saving people after Thanos caused a worldwide earthquake. They wouldn't be in the main fight.

"During a later press conference in October 2014, Feige confirmed that Phase Three would run between 2016 to 2019. He confirmed that Phase Four, and even additional phases, had already been planned or were being planned by saying that "(if) there are more years after 2019, then there will be movies. I hope there will be more years."

I had a feeling this was the situation. I think it's totally understandable though because the tone of the shows don't really seem to fit in with the plot of Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet. I could see an small Agents of Shield crossover maybe but that's about it.

Why wouldn't they fit in? The movie characters are dark and serious when they need to be and the Netflix characters are lighthearted when they need to be. Thanos can be a very dark character. He killed off half of the universe before. The Netflix shows have made references to the Battle of New York. You can see a newspaper clip of it in a number of scenes. Do we even know what the plot of The Defenders show is yet?

I have no idea how you can make Infinity war so that each character gets enough screen time, without each half of the movie being 3 hours and each movie costing 400mil.

Hopefully they pull it off.

more like in 40 years, i do hope its happen in my lifetime.

either WB get Marvel or Disney get DC but the sad thing is one of them must do really bad before that happens.

Well iirc they got the movie universe planned out for like almost 10 years. Basically we're going to get a bunch of b/c list superheroes for a while. It's never really been mentioned (I don't think) but they'll probably recast some of the bigs over time as it all plays out.

Daredevil and iron man had one of the goat comic scenes together.

The tv shows seem to be more like crime dramas with the superhero thing coming second (although Daredevil seemed to steer more away from that in season 2). I don't think there's enough screen time in the Infinity War movies to introduce The Defenders with it being really jarring.

My body is ready.

For thanos ofcourse.

Jon Favreau Returns to Marvel Studios as Executive Producer on INFINITY WAR 1 and 2

While Jon Favreau is no doubt celebrating the success of his latest directorial affair, The Jungle Book, which had a fantastic opening weekend, he's also looking to the future, and his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor, director, writer, producer is sitting in the last chair again for the Russo brothers' next two films, Avengers: Infinity War parts 1 and 2.

"I'm going to be executive producing the Avengers films with the Russo brothers, which I'm very excited about," Favreau told Digital Spy. "I talk to them about it all the time. I've worked both in front of and behind the camera with Marvel and I really love what they're doing now. It's a really exciting time to be over there. I've seen a rough cut of Civil War and it's fantastic."

Favreau will also be returning as producer and director for The Jungle Book 2 after the first film's success with both critics and audiences. No word on whether Happy Hogan will make an appearance in Infinity War.

I think you described exactly what they're doing. They announced that Infinity War (combined) is going to have a billion dollar budget. I also suspect each half will be about 2.5 hours.

Supposedly Infinty War 1&2 are not connected.

That's what's being tossed around the comic book websites.

They are connected, but it is not like the last two Harry Potter films.

They are their own individual movies, with their own stories, but they are still connected.

Yeah this is basically what I meant. Individual movies but in between there will be a new phase of movies leading up to IW 2.

i really hope quake are in this movie.

otherwise why connect the show and the movie, if she is not going to be in the movie.

Maybe this is just me hoping as Infinity Gauntlet was one of my favorite comic stories, but could the first Infinity War movie be centered on Thanos obtaining the Infinity Gems? I can dream right? Then again, it's part of the Avengers movie series, so it doesn't seem like it would be a mostly Thanos movie anyways.
