Peter Dinklage in Early Talks to Join AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Are Tyrion Lannister and Tony Stark about to cross paths? Sources tell Variety that Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is in early talks for a key role in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.

Production on the seventh season of Game of Thrones recently wrapped. Since the schedule for the show has moved from a summer shoot to a fall shoot, Dinklage’s schedule allowed him to board the latest Avengers pic which is expected to shoot sometime in early summer.

The plan is shoot the next two Avengers films (Infinity War and a yet untitled sequel) back-to-back. Sources indicate Dinklage is expected to appear in both.

Plot details are vague, other then the superhero team returning to face the Marvel mega-villain Thanos (voiced by Josh Brolin). Dinklage’s role is also unknown at this time.

Dinklage is one of the few new cast members to be added to the franchise. Previous stars like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans are on board to return.

After directing the last two installments in the Captain America franchise, Anthony and Joe Russo now take over the reigns of directing the Avengers franchise, with the previous two pics directed by Joss Whedon. Avengers: Infinity War has a release date of May 4, 2018.

Besides “Game of Thrones,” Dinklage was also recently seen in the Universal comedy “The Boss” starring Melissa McCarthy. He’s appeared in a comic book movie before, playing Boliver Trask in FOX’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” but is new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

MODOK

While it would be great if the Dink was Uatu and CGI'd to be bigger than everyone else, the Watcher might be part of the F4 deal with Fox?

I'll go with Jason Inman's scoop that F4 is coming back to Marvel this year. 1:17:39

I guess I'll be the one disliking this. We already have Captain America being played by the Human Torch, so now we'll have Modok played by Boiliver Trask.

That whole movie was a slap in the face to each and every person who watched it. God, I couldn't be happier that piece of shit Whedon is gone. It's ironic because I really loved the first one, but AoU is the worst film Marvel has ever made, which is saying a lot considering how absolute dogshit Iron Man 2 & 3 were.

You're waaaaay too emo for movies

I honestly hope so.

I have little doubt that Marvel would make a..... fantastic ..Fantastic Four.

Dinklage better be playing Pip the Troll

I was thinking about this character earlier but couldn't remember what it was called or even if he existed, the space satyr.

I think you might be onto something. Adam Warlock's cocoon is in GotG and Warlock is rival of Thanos.. With Pip joining up with Warlock some time after his creation.

Not sure why more people don't realize dinklage is exceptionally bad and terribly overrated as an actor. I guess they fall in love with his role/character as tyrion and give him all kinds of credit for it. Everything I've seen him in is completely ham-fisted and stilted. He has zero range and no diversity. His voice was so terrible in "destiny" that they took him out and replaced him with someone else.

He was great in Elf

Not sure why you don't realize not everyone shares your opinion. He was great in Elf, X-Men, and GoT. If he's bad in these upcoming movies, then he'll get criticism. If he's great, then he'll be praised. Why would I think he's going to be bad just because you don't like him?

Yeah, I mean I like Dinklage and all, but they act like there's a shortage of actors you can cast in Marvel Comics movies.

Bad enough Alfre Woodard was Black Mariah on Cage after she was the dead soldier's mom in Civil War. Though I guess in that case the small role probably opened up the larger one...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe and Fox's X-Men Universe are separate, so I don't mind seeing a good actor joining the MCU.

It's the other way around actually. Alfre was cast in Luke Cage first (Sept. 2015) while her small Civil War part was first reported on April 2016.

The reason for this rare double MCU casting snafu is that the head of Marvel Studios (Kevin Feige) and Marvel Television (Ike Perlmutter) are not on good terms.
