God Doom with the power of Molecule Man defeated Black Panther with the Infinity Gauntlet

From Secret Wars? He was powered by the Beyonders + Molecule Man. Beyonders alone are vastly beyond anything in 616, even beyond the LT who is beyond 616. So that's not surprising.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Will Now Be a Standalone Film, Won't Be Split into Two Films

For some time, Marvel Studios has hinted that their two-part Avengers: Infinity War will be getting new titles. Today, there’s a minor update as Walt Disney Pictures confirms that the first film will retain the Avengers: Infinity War title and that the second is now officially known an Untitled Avengers film.

Production on the two Infinity War movies is set to begin in November of this year in Atlanta, Georgia with both movies being shot back to back. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who return after Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, will direct the features.

It remains to be seen which characters will be the primary focus of the film, though we do know that Captain Marvel will appear in the movies ahead of her solo movie in 2019.

Screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely will pen the scripts for the two features which directors Anthony and Joe Russo will film entirely in IMAX. Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is slated for a release in theaters on May 4, 2018. The followup will then open on May 3, 2019. Both films are now also confirmed for 3D releases.

Comments: I suspect the story will essentially still be a two-parter. I think they're not splitting up the title for marketing purposes only in light of the recent disappointing or overall negative performances by recent two-parter movies like the Hunger Games and the Divergent Series. Basically, it will still be Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and 2 but just with different titles.

This is a smart, savvy move by Marvel, shows awareness of public perception and the box office landscape.

The last Divergent Series movie's (Allegiant) box office performance was so bad that the final installment (Ascendant) won't be released in theaters but will be a TV movie instead [Link].

I dont think one 2hr movie is enough time to do a infinity war

But russo brothers seem to know what they are doing. So lets just sit back and wait

hmm, hopefully it is more of a fight for gems then, and the untitled avengers movie is the full on gauntlet...

Yeah not a fan either, a two parter could've been EPIC.

Part one introduces Thanos to Earth-bound Avengers, he gets all six gems, kills a major hero, end part one. Part two is the heroes regrouping and trying to defeat Thanos.
Thanos deserves two movies, I don't think you can do him justice with just one.

infinity wars should be two films -- it has more than enough content and should have a huge avenger line up + Guardians

1 movie may just make it way too rushed.

my thoughts exactly

in any case these movies are sequels to each other at the very base of things

The wording made me think they were going to release it as a four hour film instead of making fans wait a year.

I don't know how they could tell this in one movie, but they surprised me with Civil War

This makes more sense. Everyone should ignore my last post

Yeah, IW works as a two parter among only the hardcore comic nerds. The entire rest of the MCU consumer base (roughly 95%) has no idea what's involved in IW and whether or not it should be a two parter.

All any average Joe knows is that they hate two parters because they usually suck.

I've always referred to The One Above All as just that, or "TOAA". That's generally his title and generally how I've seen most people refer to him. One Above All or One-Above-All is generally how I've seen and how I refer to the celestial. But whatever. No big deal. <14>

Yes, but at the time he embodies the universe he comes to realize that he's unworthy of such power and that it's basically just not gonna work out with Death. Nebula slipping in and taking the IG off his void body was just the end result.

Not really sure how they're going to portray it one way or the other. Either they make it ridiculously under powered or they make it legit. It's gonna really feel like a shortchange if they've hyped this whole thing up for so long and it climaxes with an under powered IG. My hope is they do it right but I'm not expecting much.

Yeah, I think most characters in the MCU are vastly under powered. It's retarded. Thor especially seems to have gotten it the worst.

I like their underpowered selves. Comics have a tendency to get stupid. Superboy punching through reality or Hulk being the second most powerful creature in the galaxy because of how hard he punches.

I'm a little perplexed without knowing where they're going with the 4th film now. Maybe that's why they're doing this, they felt what they have planned was different enough to warrant a new title.

Don't worry about 1 movie not being enough to cover it. We've kinda been watching the beginning of that story for 8-10 films now. They're telling the story, and we've known they're ultimately going in a direction that isn't 100% faithful. The 4th film will fit in as well as the others if they keep up the good work. Infinity War is gonna be insane either way.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 4th is changed to set up the inevitable hand-off for a lot of character/actors too. That'll get people complaining.

Ty for the tag @Dragonlordxxxxx

I am down with this one part idea. It just needs to be about 4 hours long, which will put a few off, but I like that sort of thing.

Also the Russo Brothers confirmed back in May that they will change the Avengers: Infinity War film titles because it's "misleading" and both movies are "two very different movies."

"In an interview with Uproxx, directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 and Part 2 will eventually get new titles.

When asked where they planned on splitting the film, they said that they aren’t splitting it because both movies are “entirely different”.

Joe said: “The movies are two very different movies.

Anthony said it was “misleading” to have them labeled as “Part 1” and “Part 2”.

Joe added: “The intention is we will change it, we just haven’t come up with the titles yet. But, yes, we will change it. And, yes, that is a scoop: we will retitle them.

Whatever the films end up getting called, the first of the two movies arrives in 2018, with the second film coming in 2019."

Calling Infinity Gauntlet: The Thanos Quest & Infinity War. At least they are getting rid of the useless part 1 and part 2, now they just need to have Thanos getting rid of half the life in the universe for Hela and show the AoS crew, Netflix gang and Cloak & Dagger on screen for 10 seconds apiece before they are erased from existence along with a few members of the Avengers, Asgardians and Guardains.

The second parts of Hunger Games finale/Harry Potter Deathly Hallows beg to differ.

The IW story was never really gonna be the basis anyway, IIRC Feige said they would not introduce Adam Warlock and they don't own rights too Silver Surfer, two of the most important parts of the original story. Surfer shows up at Strange's apartment and Warlock sends himself and Radd into the soul gem.

I'm cool w a lot of the story being changed as long as the IG is being shown as being infinitely powered and Thanos being nigh-invincible. I don't want to see the MCU butcher Thanos like DC did Doomsday (altough Thanos is a Darkseid rip off but you get my point).
