Choked british dudes, Tarkin blew up planets, Clone Troopers killed most of the jedi, had pity sex with a princess

I think part of the issue though is who they were up against, Vader is Luke's nemsis but you could argue that in this film Thanos is arguably more focused on characters like Gamora, Starlord, etc. He does obviously have scenes with Stark(arguably the most culturally known hero in modern blockbusters) but not as yet to the same degree as Vader does with Luke.

Its probably going to come down to what happens in the second film just how big an icon he becomes I'd say.

The Last Jedi ultimately is a gutless film as well, unlike say EMpire Strikes Back or this film it doesn't commit to its own ideas. Instead we see Rey reject Kylo totally and the two of them because bland good vs evil characters whilst Luke becomes exactly the legendary hero he'd been reatcing against and has a pretty emopty confrontation with Kylo.

Yea buddy TLJ is so gutless that it has half the fans divided on how they handled Luke.. if one thing you can say about that movie is that at least Rian had balls, good or bad in his choices he had balls.

Empty confrontation you say ? gutless.. then what the heck did you saw in this Avengers movie ? wow we lost Loki and the sidekick gatekeeper guy so deep and ballsy.

In the end glad you guys liked the movie, go watch it and have more fun with it, there are enough movies for everyone out there.

Thanos just has more pre-existing competition. Who was really around in the public consciousness when cool looking black clad Darth Vader with his red laser sword showed up in 1977? Not much.

Vader has been prominent for 40 years on the big screen. But like a lot of Star Wars, the true excitement lives in the fans' imagination. On screen Thanos > Vader.

i mean there is no Star Wars without Darth Vader so I don’t even think this is a point worth debating.

Vader and Luke are the heart of the OT

Vader is certainly compellingly designed. It's one of Star Wars charms. It's easy to imagine Darth Vader being a badass. It's easy to imagine Boba Fett being a badass even though he does jack shit. I'm just saying on screen that Thanos is superior.

Got back from my second viewing, still 10/10. Movie went a lot faster this time around. Here are a few things I noticed on my second viewing.
- Loved how everyone address Steve Rogers as Cap or Captain and still saw him as their leader. I hope his iconic shield is in the next one, new weapon didn't do it for me.
- Still got chills when Captain American appears.
- I heard the Kevin Bacon part the first time around, but I didn't know Thor responded back with "Yeah, he might be. I've haven't been there in awhile", made me chuckle.
- Thor refers Groot as Tree throughout the movie.
- Scarlet Witch was more bad ass than I remembered.
- Tony Starks invites Wong to the wedding.
- Still did not like how they animated Proxima Midnight, especially her mouth when she talked.
- Draxx still comedy gold.
- Starlord changing his voice still gold.
- The music really sets the feel for Gamora's death.
- Tom Holland's acting before vanishing still gets the feels.
- Thanos is still a boss. Loved his line when Starlord is supposed to kill Gamora and he calls him out to shoot her, "she's asked, hasn't she?"

I really dislike TFA for feeling like a rehash but TLJ turned my opinion on the sequel trilogy around. It's thanks to that film that Kylo Ren went from being one of my most hated characters in cinema to one of the best (only to laugh at tbh but its what the film sets up).

I don’t know about anyone else, but every time Thanos spoke I kept thinking it was Ron Perlman.

Anybody- anybody- claiming George R. R. Martin is a better writer than Tolkien.... needs their fucking brain examined. But that derail belongs elsewhere.

If you are ten years old and don't think Tolkien is the greatest writer who ever lived, there's something wrong with you. If you're twenty and still think Tolkien is the greatest writer ever, there's something really wrong with you.
- Terry Pratchett

Someone should make a poll for who will be the one to kill thanos:

1. Captain Marvel
2. Drax the Destroyer
3. Gamorra
4. Nebula
5. Adam Warlock
6. Thor
7. Captain America
8. Ironman
9. Hulk
10. Scarlet Witch
11. Vision
12. Starlord
13. Anyone from the FOX roster
14. Himself
15. Other (who?) or he survives

Then we can see who is right in the end

Now if we're talking about overrated fantasy writers....

It's a question for the Marvel corporate suits do they:

a) pick an iconic character ex: Tony it started with him ends with him

b) pick someone you want to use in the future and build more around them ex: Captain Marvel

ps: Adam Warlock is to be used in 2020 with Guardians 3 imo.

Imo. I think Stark will be the one to defeat Thanos in Avengers 4. Dr Strange asked Thanos to spare his life for a reason. That and Stark still has nightmares about Thanos and the invasion of New York. It would mean closure for him. I also think he will die doing it. Can't wait to find out!

I read that in the comics (not in infinity war) Stark uses that forge where Thor got his new axe to make some super ironman-suit. A possibility.
