Movies AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Thread v.9

It's one of the greatest stories in comic history. To just throw it into BVS like it's no big deal seriously pissed me off.

Even if they had made it it's own movie it was much too early to tell that story. In the comics he was the beloved hero of earth. In the movie universe people are just getting to know him and don't even trust him yet. Why should anyone care that he dies? Oh this alien that we just found out about who wrecked our city fighting another alien is dead now. That's too bad.

I have no idea only thing I can think is that he can't go that far. Maybe same planet is ok but through the universe isn't possible? Seems Thanos could only do it because of the infinity stones not even his wizard could do that he still needed his ship to get back home.

In Doctor Strange Mordo says it allows them to travel throughout the multiverse, so regular universe shouldn't be so hard.

One thing I would change about the MCU overall is how easy it is for Strange to use the Time Stone's power. It should be a lot of effort. I like how IW toned the gauntlet down.

Strange had a whole debate with Stark about why they should just go with the ship to Titan. It was a huge plot point. You don't remember?

After the rescue Strange says "Turn the ship around." Why wasn't he just like "I'm portaling out of here, you guys do what you want." The debate happens after that.

Frankly Wong can port in his own tuna melt, goddammit.

Hmm that's weird then. Maybe Strange isn't that good yet? He did get sort of rushed to the position he's in now. That's really the only explanation for it other than it's just another plot hole.

Honestly though the way Marvel deals with this kind of thing tends to be deliberately inexact, if you don't tell the audience the exact nature of some special power then you can't have such a direct plothole, you just have to accept the way the power is used is the limit of it.

To increase their chances of winning. I think after getting shellacked by Thanos and Black Order in the first movie, the second one will feature Dormammu, and it will be Dormammu vs Thanos.
Fair prediction. I'm going to predict if we ever see Dormammu again it won't be until Dr. Strange 2 (if that movie happens)

I do agree it would have been to early for that. One more stand alone movie and then the Death of Superman would have been perfect (after a JL movie). I'm just saying if you're hell bent on doing it you don't just throw it into another movie like that. You just spend a good 30 mins doing some sort of 80's montage with Superman getting a lot of stuff done and the world falling in love with him.

Have the comics ever explained why Strange cant do that?

I don't know about the comics, but the Doctor Strange movie made it pretty clear that using the Time Stone is an extremely dangerous thing to do because you could trigger a paradox or retcon yourself out of existence.

And when dealing with artifacts as profoundly important to the Universe as the Infinity Stones, the potential for disaster would increase by several orders of magnitude.

I was thinking the same when I watched the movie. I just assumed he could only use it on Earth.

Presumably Strange needs to know where he is in relation to his destination to be able to open a portal. By the time he woke up he was probably halfway across the galaxy.

It just seem like it was a joke at the expense of Jesus which I didn’t like and I was shocked it came from Pratt who is a Christian

I wasn't a joke at the expense of Jesus.

If anything it would be a joke at the expense of Bible-thumping evangelicals and as far as I am aware, Pratt is not one of those.

But that would require Wong to steal someone else's tuna melt.
In terms of the multi-cosmos tuna melts are never really stolen. They merely shift states.

THESE ARBITRARY LIMITATIONS ARE WHAT'S KILLING INDEPENDENT GEORGE.

I was thinking about this as well. But the multiverse must be more confusing than the normal universe. And Mordo said they can go anywhere there and presumably travel around. But it's the best explanation out of the possible 14 million I can think of.

I didn't find it at the expense of anybody.

I don't think it was a joke on any Christians at all.

The success of this film is I'd say deliberately taking Thanos in the opposite direction of Dormammu, rather the threat being sold purely on mystical grandeur he's actually a very human character who presents a philosophical challenge.

The plot of the film is ultimately I'd say about showing the various characters different moral drives, Cap for example will never compromise his morals, Thanos on the other hand will compromise everything for what he views as the greater good, Thor is driven by revenge and a sense of destiny, Strange by a sense of duty to protect the stone/earth, etc.
