Marvel owes nothing to star wars. Star wars is sci fi space movie. Really doesn't fit the title of super hero movie. The fact some of them have interesting abilities doesn't make it a super hero movie.

what template did Star Wars lay out that Marvel followed?

Star Wars is a set of random movies supposedly in the same universe that all look significantly different and dont make any sense when you break them down..... while the MCU is backed by decades of lore they have built it into the machine it is. Its a far different model of franchise, and its nothing like Star Wars.... at all lol

You could certainly argue both ways I'd agree, Lucas's original idea for Starwars could come somewhat from the fantasy worlds of comics along with stuff like Lord of the Ring, Dune and old Hollywood serials.

In terms of how the movie industry works though Starwars was obviously the first film to have an action fantasy set in such a wide universe and have masses of success with it. You could argue maybe the move towards blockbusters was happening anyway but the likes of LOTR and Marvel would probably have found it harder to get made if they couldn't point to Starwars success.

Still though even as a Starwars fan I think Rogue One is the only good movie in that franchise since 1983.

Yep Star Wars is my jam and even if I didn't agree with some of the choices in the last one it's still one heck of a good movie, will enjoy re-watching it.

But the throne room was the epitome of disappointment and lukes lil trick was the final facepalm i delivered to myself.

Imagine....feeling cringe during star wars. Those of us that love star wars have cringe resistance to its world. Yet last jedi, tests that cringe proof formula and "lets it die."

I must say thank you tho. Ive not seen the movie since the 1st time and these vids are enough to get whatever fill i may need. To think, these clips are rhe better parts of the movie too. Imagine the shit around them..

The roots of the MCU's success are more in Richard Donner's Superman, Tim Burton's Batman, and especially Sam Raimi's Spiderman. They showed that there was a huge audience for these movies.

Well I disagree I feel those scenes I picked out are memorable and iconic scenes for the movie.

I get it if you didn't like them as much as me but to say they are cringe and all that is to much in my opinion.

Thanos has godlike powers himself. The strongest being in the universe, he can do anything now because of the gauntlet. In the comics he literally kicked the asses of everyone and was just toying with them to impress death (hella or however you spell it)

In the movie he didn't even bother killing the avengers. He just snapped his fingers and got out of there lmao. He can kill them anytime he wants.

The burnt glove was a sign of exertion from the IG. It’s not an endless supply of power unlike the comics. So he can’t just keep snapping killing them and bringing them back and back and forth.

I think what Thanos did was the first time an action that massive was attempted with all the Gems so the Combined might may have overwhelmed the Guantlet. My Guess is that he can use the Time Stone to restore or repair it.

Just saw it. I think I went in with my expectations too high (because some parts really bugged me) but I can't deny that it gave me something I value highly in super hero movies: characters that I'm absolutely riveted by when they're not fighting. I wish the plot would have turned a few more cliches on their heads and was less goofy at times, but it was still strong.

Here are my complaints:

Quill freeing Thanos because he was a fucking idiot. I hate it when characters act stupid for no reason.

That stupid Wakanda / mass army fight scene. I think I may have found the first "giant CGI army fight scene" I ever saw entertaining. Every one I've seen after that... a waste of time.

Thor withstanding the might of a star, doesn't get badly burned or have his hair/clothing incinerate.

Iron Man getting hit with a planet.

People not dying before the mass murder of the cosmos. I really wanted bad shit to happen to good people, but they all miraculously survived what would have been satisfying deaths. Sometimes they did so in cartoonish ways, such as when Tony freezes up his gaping stab wound.

Dr. Strange sacrificing the stone gem to save Tony; Gamora sacrificing the soul gem to save Nebula. I know Strange gave the line, "This is how it has to go" but I would have liked one person to make the hard choices. Especially when Strange promised not to prioritize anyone over the gem. One thing Marvel has impressed me with, in its really good movies, is subverting cliches and expectations. They did no such thing in this movie.

Towards the end, I was just overwhelmed by how cartoony the fights were. They were great until they started fighting Thanos on Titan and kept going downhill until I was pretty bored in Wakanda. But I guess the movie was a three-hour fight scene and they kept it entertaining enough.

All in all, I had a damn good time, but am surprised to say that I will not watch it in theatres a second time. There are a few other Marvel movies that are better than this one and have more rewatchability, imo.

Wow... we got so many differences of opinion. Really? Leaia becoming superwoman is the first you detected super hero qualities... I don't know what to tell you bro. Luke jumped out of han's criochamber at least 12 foot at the speed of a blur. Vader was throwing sh*t at Luke using nothing but his mind.... & that's all early on stuff. Like first few minutes of the first movie Vader is being psychic.

I grew up in the time era that the original Star Wars was released... & that was considered a super hero movie... no doubt about it. Not even in question. To be honest, I'm not sure why it's not considered one today. If X-men that can float things & read minds & control others n stuff are considered super heroes today... then it's just blantantly obvious that Jedi & Sith are super heroes. They can shoot lighting out of their handz ffs. On the real, I'm beside myself that this is even in dispute.

Star Wars is a Super hero film.

Not only that... it is the original blockbuster superhero film.

Say what you want about how it developed, but have some respect for how it started. That's my point. Even if you don't like where they went with it... you can't deny their influence for being the first big blockbuster super hero movie. MCU owes at least enough debt to it that they would respect it enough to not talk sh*t about it on their holiday.

Sorry, but there is no connection between Star Wars and the MCU beyond them both being fantasy action franchises. The fact that Jedi and Sith have superhuman abilities does not make them super heroes/villains. You might as well say Gandalf is a Jedi because he can move objects without touching them.

I like Star Wars, or I did before the latest films went Full Retard. But the MCU doesn't owe SW a damn thing.
