Yeah by all rights with this level of corporate involvement, these movies shouldn't be anywhere near this good. I can't believe people bitch and complain and say these movies should be better. Like.... really?

We've seen with the DCU how easy it is to mess this up. DC's movies just make me sad.

Kevin Feige is a big Marvel nerd. He's exactly the type of corporate involvement you want. Not like the DC movies where the corporate guys just want their bonuses at the end of the year and try to take shortcuts to get them.

Lol top 5 is absurd, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is the weakest of the trilogy, but it was good. Ultron should have been a lot more dangerous, but that's my only real complaint about that movie. Marvel villains have tended to suck on film, so I was really glad they went all out with Thanos.
I may give it another chance if I can find a 3D copy for super cheap. Might wait to see if there's a combo 4K release; 4K releases are undoubtedly coming. Bastards.

Can't say it'll be the same for you but Guardians vol 2 was much much better for me upon rewatching it. I think I like it better than the first.

First movie is all about unapologetic while introducing the characters. Second is all about tugging on your heart-strings. Most of the characters have a pretty satisfying emotional arc aside from Drax and Baby Groot (who's not just the comic relief, I still don't understand how this film made me feel protective towards a CGI bonsai tree).

Tell me this scene doesn't hit you right in the feels:

GOTG has the better plot and tracks but GOTG2 has the better everything else. It's a smoother story, and the feels unstoppable.

True, just goes to show that you get the best results when you have someone passionate about what they're making. You can tell a lot of people involved really love the comics, the level of detail in these movies is surprising. They could have phoned it in a lot more and still been as successful most likely.

I definitely appreciate all the attention to detail and accuracy to the comics, and all the easter eggs

I mentioned in another one of those many IW threads that for all intents and purpose IW should be awful. The size of the cast mixed with how they incorporated the feel of every characters movie into one larger film should make it a jumbled, hot mess. And yet it was incredible. Absolutely incredible

DC movies make me sad as well. They have a wealth of lesser known characters that would be incredible if they were guided by a Feige type leader.

I’m a huge huge huge Green Lantern fan and a fan of his supporting cast and “universe.” This character is a no brainier for a successful franchise but they just can’t get it going.

I know for a fact if you gave Feige a crack at DC he would make an incredible universe.

Another point. Was I the only one super impressed with the Civil War Iron Spider suit.

I thought that might be cheesy on screen but got damn was it fucking awesome

This new marvel spider man really makes me love the character all over again

I loved the suit as well, BUT, i wonder what happens going forward with all these power ups.
If he had had that iron spider suit against Vulture then that movie would've ended in like 30 minutes.

Who can stand against Thor or Iron man besides some other cosmic entity?

Yeah haven't seen it since it was in theaters. IIRC I gave it an 8/10 on here after I saw it. I agree on GOTG, the first movie had a better plot but the second movie is just more fun.

The only issue: next year’s film has a lot to live up to. Going to be tough to top.

it can work.
im curious about if hulk will get more powerfull (world breaker hulk) after hulks depression because he got beat up by thanos... since many heroes getting stronger like thor and iron man.

I saw Guardians 2 twice in the theater. i loved it, but not as much as rhe first only because, you ready? The music.

But everyone was awesome AGAIN. Groot was cute, nebula and gamora doing a tribute to north by northwest, And Yondu.

Not to mention, kurt Russell being amazing. It's such a fun sequel.

He was willing to shoot her in the face and actually tried. He should have taken that experience and refocused into not killing trillions of people..
how does any of that make any sense? lol

what about that experience would make him not react the way he did? his intention was to save Gamora.... his idiotic move was in reaction to finding out he couldnt do that. perfectly reasonable reaction for someone who lost a loved one

They should have the Hulk eat the power stone in the next one.

Half of Xandar should still be around so maybe they start making a superhero because of what Thanos did to them.

I'll go for World Breaker Hulk being beaten if that means never seeing the onscreen version of this:

Yeah went to see IW with my buddy, and afterwards he was impressed that they had so many cameos without ruining the pace of the movie. The way it all flows together with so many moving parts is incredible. People have attempted much less and ended up with sloppy disasters. People will say oh durr these are just superhero movies, but these films are superbly crafted. They aren't ALL smashing at the box office for no reason.

Imo best case scenario is DC swallows their pride and works together with Marvel. Reboot that horrible shit and integrate it into crossovers with the mcu. Ride on Marvel's coattails and get some momentum going. A film reviewer I follow said IW feels like the start of a whole new era for Marvel, whereas Justice League feels like pretty much the end of the DCU. It's crazy to me that justice league got smashed by a Thor movie, and a BP movie. Such an epic, epic failure.

I pointed it out because most of the time these movies are discussed here GOTG is up there besides Winter Soldier amongst the best MCU films and GOTG 2 gets a pass.

I definitely appreciate the first for breaking new ground, but the second is just so fucking good on so many levels. It's kinda weird because I remember leaving the theater thinking only "yeah this was great" and quickly forgeting about it. Watched it a 2nd time during a MCU marathon (one film every day) leading up to IW and it blew me away.

GOTG2 is also visually stunning. It somehow tempers the kaleidoscopic optics of DR. STRANGE and infuses it with heart and music to create a real organic feeling film.

No way! Over-adherence to a single universe should be jettisoned in favor of crafting one-offs. Like Elseworlds®. Focus on style and single stories. Bring in filmmakers who can do good riffs.

The bolded is a really good point. Although they're all a part of this larger story, the characterization all feels on point. Keeping the tone from a bunch of different individual movies intact as part of a larger story has to be difficult

Yeah Cap’s first appearance got a huge ovation in the theater.

Thor arriving with Rocket and Groot via the bifrost and then wrecking shit and yelling “Bring me Thanos!” Got an even bigger one.

Such an epic scene.

And such an awesome film. I really don’t think the powers that be could have pulled this one off any better than they did.

Feige, the Russos, the cast, the writers, the crew all deserve a ton of respect.

The only issue: next year’s film has a lot to live up to. Going to be tough to top.

What's so impressive to me, besides the successful juggling of a million characters and egos (with very few appearances feeling shallow or meaningless), was how they managed to elevate the superhero film without undermining it a la Logan, Deadpool, or even TDK. This is a Marvel movie through and through.

Honestly I thought the relationship between Gomora and Thanos didn't quite hit home like it could have, and Quinn's reaction to her death was a little dull, but other than that I can't think of any major scenes that missed the mark.

He's experienced that emotion already so he could react to it better this time. When he blasted his dad after learning about his mother's death it led to his other dad dying. So he should have double experience. It's like if they had Hank Pym beat his wife every movie and he never learned not to do it. And the excuse was: Hank Pym is a wife beater, that's part of who he is! It's not good to see destructive behavior repeated. Smartass behavior, tactical genius behavior, repeat those. But stupid destructive behavior, let the character learn and grow. What, he's going to come back from dustville and go "my bad, thanks avengers for saving everyone even though I was a dumbass." Poor character trajectory.

I knew it was gonna be bad when I, as a lifelong comics nerd, had no idea WTF was going on during half of BvS. Flashbacks on top of dream sequences on top of visions of alternate realities. With very little explanation and no setup. Nonsensical character motivations, everything dark and bleak and depressing. I honestly doubt I'd ever watch BvS again. Can't imagine getting that bored.

I liked Thor Ragnarok better. There, I said it.

I liked this actually . I like that they made sure to emphasize that the gauntlet is a tool. He had to close his fist to use it.

Him just simply wearing it makes him too powerful. There's nothing you can do to get it off if all he has to do is think thoughts . That would result in an unrealistic conclusion on how the heroes end up defeating him.
They could even say that the troll blacksmith intentionally made it that way to give somebody a chance of taking him out

because the avengers needs a way to put this glove off him, like in the comics. when he can use the powerstones without making a fist he wouldnt have a weakness. there needs to be something to build on.

and i like this... he can have the biggest power in the universe but he still has a weakness that shows that he is not a marvel universe god.... and thanos wants to be godlike.
