I have to say that after three movies I still have no idea what Drax's powers are. Or Gamora's, but I'm not that confused about Gamora because her comic book powers are pretty low key. Drax is supposed to be a power house, but he's never had a Hulk moment, he just keeps getting his ass kicked

so I guess we've established his power level then.

Seriously, if they put Drax in a 4th MCU movie, glow the brother up.

so I guess we've established his power level then.

lol I guess we have.

I guess I'm confused because he seems to run into every battle as though he's a physical powerhouse, but loses every single time. It's like when my girlfriend got a baby guinea pig and introduced it to her adult guinea pigs (who were also cuy hybrids -- basically gigantic guinea pigs, almost the size of a cat) and, because he was the alpha in the pet store, the baby fluffball kept charging them to wrestle them into submission only to get slapped around like a marshmallow. Then he'd sneak around the cage and charge them from the other side.

(Once he realized he's a little pig, he stopped trying to physically dominate the others. Instead, what he does is climbs on top of the houses and dominates them by sniffing the tops of their heads as they pass by, as though he were a much bigger pig. It drives the adult pigs crazy. One day they're going to throw him out of the cage.)

Weekend box office came much lower than what I estimated. Despite the spin of 2nd biggest second weekend, there's a significant gulf between TFA's second weekend and I.W. I was expecting deferred viewing to the weekend, as dailys between I.W. were lagging behind TFA's, which had the luxory of being released during Xmas holidays. I estimated second weekend at $125 mill up to $135. TFA had a second weekend of $145 m.

Domestically at 10 days I.W. $450,806,540 TFA: $540,058,914

I’m still curious to see how they’ll compare when all is said and done. IW still hasn’t debuted in China and Star Wars doesn’t do well over there. IW can probably make up a lot ground on TFA there potentially.

All Thanos has to do is implement a one child policy. This way he wont directly kill anyone. He just cut their bloodlines short, which is in the long run killing a person off, but it is much easier for the whole universe to swallow. Thanos will not have to fight so much now.

He has the infinity gauntlet, so he can snap his fingers and wish for every being in the universe to lose their reproductive capabilities after one child. Like as soon as a man cums, he automatically get vasectomized. Once female gets pregnant, her ovaries produce no more eggs.

This method is not so finite either. People will actually get the chance to see what it is like. In their minds they have a choice. They will think, if I want more kids down the road we can always vote to reverse it.

Its really that simply. Thanos is not as smart as people make him out to be. I am smarter. In fact, I even have a plan to beat Thanos using Dormammu. So I am smarter than all the MCU.

why not just wish for more resources

Drax is so dissapointing, in terms of his power level, in this franchise.

I really like him as a character but it's sad that he's so weak. He's barely stronger than the actor who plays him.
In the last 2 movies he's done sweet fuck all.

Am I right to say that this guy was designed for the purpose of killing thanos? And that his power gets stronger the closer he gets to thanos?
And that in one comic book he physically rips Thanos' heart out of his chest?

I get that movies and comics are different but the way he's portrayed here he would get his ass kicked by black widow and captain America could probably beat him blindfolded.

why not just wish for more resources
Creating a thriving ecosystem is infinitely more complex than culling the heard to match demand with currently available resources. Space/land will become increasingly more necessary. Expanding planets or adding new ones can mess up orbits or gravitational forces etc. More food and more people make more waste that has to be handled. There are all sorts of issues that come with creating the natural resources necessary to allow current projections of life to thrive, and Thanos may not have the knowledge to actually make all of that happen. Making a significant portion of the demand (people) disappear is infinitely easier to implement. Thanos is just working smarter instead of harder.

One stone beat Dormannu, even in his universe. Six stones puts him in a grave.

I think because, as much as Thanos fancies himself a mercy-bringer, he's a malevolent piece of shit who would rather efface entities from existence rather than come up with some other way of dealing with the issue. Infinity Stones may have made his plan much easier, but the snap certainly wasn't his first rodeo. Going around the universe and violently wiping out half of the populations of planets and what not for god knows how long he'd been doing it.

So... Thanos basically has to implement the Chinese Communist policy on a universal scale.

All fear the made-in-China Infinity Slippers!

That is a good point, but only the time stone. If Thanos used the time zone, he pretty much screwed himself because he wont be able to escape loop either. And Dormammu did kill Dr Strange, it was just over and over again because of the loop.

If Thanos tries same time loop, he too will be caught in the vicious cycle.

Wonder why the drop off on second week is so big? Star Wars kicked it's ass here big time.

I expected it to keep power housing.

You have to remember that Star Wars was a Ronda Rousey Once in a Lifetime event. I love the MCU and it definitely transcends age and gender demographics to an extent but there were plenty of people who came out for Star Wars The Force Awakens from like my dad's generation (who were in there 20s when the first film of the OT came out) who I'm absolutely certain aren't seeing Infinity War because it's just not there thing. IW already took several meaningful records and that is highly impressive. I don't think any of us expected it to touch TFA's domestic box office because nothing is going to. For a long, long time.

And again it had everything going for it- first Star Wars movie in a decade, first Star Wars movie with Ford, Fisher, and Hamill in 30 years. It was going to pull in people from age groups of 60 plus years old down to kids with their families. And naturally, there were going to be diminishing returns. TLJ made 620 mill which is phenomenal by blockbuster movie standards, but is not within 300 million of what it's predecessor made domestically. I'd imagine Episode IX: Rey Saves the Universe will have trouble getting past 480 given the negativity many felt toward Episode VIII.

Wait til its release in China. It'll be mind-boggling.

The weird thing is that in the 80s and early 90s Drax was super powerful. He was huge and almost as strong as the Hulk.

At some point that changed and Drax became much smaller and uses knifes and shit for some reason, and the MCU used that later era Drax instead of the Hulk-like era Drax.

I was a big fan of Kree-Skrull War era Draxx; still more powerful than MCU Draxx (and could fly), but thought uber downz Draxx to be lame.
