This was pretty good. The right director and the right screenwriter....

You think anybody is going to want to watch Jeremy Renner run over some third world villains with his bolo arrows?

It would have to be a movie about a black-ops mission.
Fury calls in his ace for a secret mission to recapture some stolen whozeewhatsits and/or some high level diplomats/ scientists.
He gets there and shit goes sideways because these aren't just some terrorists, they're an affiliate of Hydra and this op is being overseen by the Serpent Society - hired meta humans.

And you call this movie Captain America 4 and you try and squeeze in a Clint Barton cameo.

Not sure why you don't believe in the power of a good writer and a good director. A Hawkeye movie could basically look like any Mission Impossible, Bourne or James Bond movie. Hollywood has been making good movies about heroes without powers for decades longer than they've been making good movies about heroes with powers.

because it wouldn't be a Hawkeye movie without a bow and arrow gimmick.
it could be a Jason Bourne movie, or a James Bond movie, or a Rambo movie, but it wouldn't be a Hawkeye movie.

You can do those movies with a bow and arrow. Also, I posted the Rambo trailer because in at least two movies his signature weapon was a bow.

Very well said.

As you said, Thanos is not dumb. To me, that looked like a clear case of Thanos puts the mind stone in the gauntlet, reacts to the surge of power, quickly gets hit by Thor’s lightning and then tries to ward off the fast moving axe but gets hit just the same. I can’t see him having allowed that to happen just to prove a point. For all he knew that shit was coming for his head, he basically was damn sure looking to protect himself.

When he does the snap, he’s struggling to breathe, barely able to muster the words. While he definitely does taunt Thor with the “You should have aimed for the head,” even gives a little smile after that, I think he basically lucked out that he didn’t get one shot killed and that he had the seconds necessary to pull off his plan.

Yuo, it is abundantly clear that wielding an infinity stone has an impact on the one trying to do it. WIthout a base power level you will just die trying to control the power.

You can see Thanos physically whinging as he adds the last stone and I am sure it is taking him some time to both control and focus and wield that much power. Wouldn't it be a joke if that much power was 'easy' to wield?

Thor attacks at the right time when Thanos' concentration is on the gauntlet. Plus are people thinking that SkyFather type power could not even hurt Thanos? I know THor is not yet at Odin SkyFather power levels but he forged a weapon that would be worthy of a SkyFather. It was a weapon specifically made by the dwarf with the power to kill Thanos.

So why people are so shocked that Thor could harm Thanos under those circumstances is strange to me. People seem to be seriously under estimating Thor's powers as they play with him testing near peak.

I can't believe you don't like Winter Soldier, @JosephDredd. That's still my favorite MCU movie.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I don't get the hype for WS. Uninteresting characters, predictable plot, goofy shit that I wasn't willing to suspend disbelief for.

How can a guy with such a cool Name and Av be so wrong?

nah.

Hawkeye is lame compared to everybody else in the MCU. He shoots arrows.
Ultimate Hawkeye would have been a much cooler character, but 616 Clint Barton is a snoozer.

Ultimate Hawkeye is pretty much a slightly less psychotic version of Bullseye.

Honestly I'd say it probably had the strongest dramatic edge to it of any MCU film, made Cap, Widow, Bucky and Fury into interesting characters plus managed to be both a spy thriller and a large scale action film.

As far as Hawk goes I would not be surprised if the Black Widow film is co starting him.

Corvus literally says "let him have his fun" because he knew Thanos was letting Hulk believe he could beat him, only to humiliate him brutally. There wasn't even interpretation needed there, it was directly stated that Thanos was letting Hulk believe he could hang with Thanos, when the reality is he can't, at all.

I'm kinda dumbfounded that anyone missed what amounts to the central theme of his character; he's sadistic and wants people to feel victory before forcing them to deal with loss.

"Dread it. Run from it. But in the end, destiny arrives." His entire arc was based around the notion that "the moment you think you've won, is the moment I proclaim victory".
I didn’t get this at all. Thanos seemed to respect strength. He operated by a code. I think he seemed very dispassionate, in fact. Just coldly logical. He wasn’t trying to hurt people. In his mind he was SAVING people. That’s what made him compelling.

Fight me IRL.

Sorry, guys. I went into the movie wanting to like it, but as soon as Cap put away his shield to fight GSP my heart sunk and I immediately knew that every single moment of the movie was going to go exactly as I expected it to. That's not the end of the world, I've enjoyed predictable movies before, but that's usually because I'm caught up in the characters. Not in WS. There wasn't a single moment where I was intrigued by the characters enough to go along for the ride or even simply enjoying the characters enough to just watch them do their thing.

It was an okay movie, imo, that I didn't enjoy and will certainly never go out of my way to rewatch.
