Ha, thanks bud, great end scene from Tony
I always found IM kind of a meh character in the comics, until the ultimate version that they based this one on. But movie iron man is even better than comic iron man. Such strong character development and he has an arc that starts with the first IM movie and continues all the way through endgame. They did a fantastic job of establishing him and cap. And they're the cornerstone of the MCU so I'm glad they really sat down and thought about how to write them and where their stories were going. Very satisfying conclusion for both of them.

So did Endgame make more than any other film ever after the dust settled?

Edit: Found this link stating that it was on it's way to topping Avatar but because of monstrous competition (John Wick and Pikachu) they will narrowly miss the mark probably. But who knows i guess?

Needs 171+ million dollars.

They will get another 100-150 mill in 2-3 weeks but those last millions will be a real crawl and Disney will have to force this bad boy over the line. They are to close to the record they won't allow it to fail even if they will have to spend their own money to get it there.

I dig it. Good job.
Thanks Drax, I did it this aft at the bar, 3 pints in. Wanted to get home to see how it looks on a big screen ie computer. Wasn't sure what pic to pull for Tony, but I'm happy with that one. Tried to pull one from End Game, but couldn't get one that I quite liked

Your analysis doesn't match your rating IMHO. I was reading your post and thinking wow, dude sounds disappointed in what he saw....had to scroll back up and verify 9.1/10? Near perfect score... what the hell...LOL

Anyways I've stopped reading online reviews on other sites as it just depresses me. Nats death I thought was sad as hell... people writing things like "good, glad the bitch is dead", people cheering and laughing at her death. Jesus... :(

"Me no like feelings...me want to see Thanos smash!"

I've been looking at some of the clips on YouTube and I like it even more, scenes having more emotional impact the 2nd time round.

The cap and Peggy unrequited love angle is even more impactful. That little 15 second scene where Steve goes back to 1970 and walks in a room with peggy there..

What a HEARTBREAKING scene.

I go back and see a clip from Winter Soldier and their last scene together when shes in bed with (alzheimers)...didn't realize and their conversation takes on whole new meaning and weight. So sad. His acting is incredible the way he tries to not let her see his reaction to how shes acting...

Incredible story.

I ordered the 2 season bluray of Agent Carter. Can't wait. :)

Yeah fair enough I should have talked about the positive stuff, i was just more interested in talking about what i felt held it back from really being at the top of my MCU list. What the movie does to conclude the Iron Man and Captain America character arcs is really what makes me rank it so high, it was very very satisfying and moving. Also just the whole spectacle of everything and seeing all these characters that we've watched for all these years work together was incredibly fun, and I appreciate the stories a lot.

Cap's arc is my favorite arc in the MCU and seeing him standing there all alone against Thanos and his army, but still not giving up, strapping the shield tight on his arm, and then "on your left", that really hit me hard. Really the whole pre-reverse snap fight with Cap/IM/Thor vs. Thanos was masterful. That exact moment, Steve refusing to fight back against Bucky when Bucky is about to kill him, and the GotG holding each other to protect Quill and wield the power of the stone were the most emotionally impactful moments in the MCU for me. Also seeing him dance with Peggy, I was so happy for Steve. Sure there are some problems it logically, but it is so emotionally satisfying watch him finally do something for himself. I'm pretty sure this is the only time I've ever paid to watch a movie twice in theaters.

Just read that avatar was in theaters for almost 9 months?? No wonder it has the record, bs imo.

I doubt endgame will be in theaters that long.

I don't understand how so many retards could watch Blue Ferngully so many times.

Its not how long they are on theaters, but how many people continue to watch it.

Most film after the first 5-6 weeks only earn pennys, if Avengers continues to drop it can stay 9 months and not reach Avatar.

I might have to give this movie another watch before it finally leaves theaters.

It’s so crazy that not even a month ago this movie was the biggest thing everyone talked about.

The dust is now settling on that era of the MCU.

It coming out just as Game of Thrones was endind shifted a lot of discussion away from it, that and the film being mostly well received so not as much debate.

To be fair every movie in the same situation would have done the same.

In fact the rule is simple as long as people buy tickets to shows the movie theaters will have it in their line up and Avatar was truly special in that regard no other movie had that king of staying power and consistent weekends/days:

Pop culture, everyone talking about it, marketing, most didn't want to 'miss out' and the most important it was a new gimmick the 3D aspect.

I fully assume this new one being delayed for so many years and with never ending money they must have found a new gimmick (rumored new better 3D and without the need of glasses) and they will hit us hard and market the heck out of it when it's time.

Avatar - December 18, 2009
Avatar 2 - December 17, 2021 (rumored mostly underwater)
Avatar 3 - December 22, 2023 (already filmed back to back with the second but like that one needs extensive CGI rendering)
Plans for 4 and 5 but most likely Disney will wait to see how the second does before fully green lighting the last 2.

Have to say, much like the GOT threads it sure has been fun talking with you guys about these movies throughout the years, watching all this take shape. Good things are always even better when you have people to share them with.

When these movies started I didn't even have a sherdog account yet, and I've been here so long I feel like this place is part of my identity. Crazy and just really shows the grand scale of all this. I was a completely different person when I went to go see Iron Man than I am now. Interesting to think about and no doubt it's part of the reason so many people feel a connection to these movies. They grew up alongside us in a way.

I dislike time travel shit as it can make literally everything that happened meaningless.
Also the Hulk never got his shot... Hulk completes his arc being an inconsequential forsaken character, when he should be a major force and brain. Im mad at that.

Other than that, it was enjoyable, albeit somewhat underwhelming after IW.
Maybe I really expected the best superhero movie, but this doesnt make my top 5.

Gave it a 7,5, will eventually rewatch.
