I think Robert Downey Jr. is playing a Doctor Doom variant from the alternate Fantastic 4 universe. At some point, the team and Doom will probably arrive in the 616 Marvel Universe.

He better be brushing up on his Eastern European accent.

That would be such a mind fuck for the Main Timeline MCU to run into RDJ Doom , but then again it shouldn't be that crazy since Doom should be behind his iconic garb so they shouldn't recognize him .

The Jonathan Majors scandal might turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise for Marvel Studios. They pivoted, pushed Kang out of their plans and now we have this.

I don't mind Majors as an Actor but the whole chaos of the Multiverse piece with multiple Kangs was a misfire for me and glad that we have RDJ going to experiment with Doom

Note if they decided to push forward with Multiverse Shenanigans I would be Open to Michael Fassbender or Mads Mikkelson playing Doom Variants.

For some reason this seems less risky than introducing Victor Von Doom and I can see how he could be sown seamlessly into the MCU so I like it for that reason. But I am definitely a bit conflicted

You're not the only one.

I used to be a big fan of Mads Mikkelsen for my fantasy casting. But after seeing him for two seasons in NBC's Hannibal, I'm going to pass on Mikkelsen (especially if the role requires a lot of dialogue).

Plus if you get Mads for Doom, the movie would need subtitles every time he speaks.

Mads Mikkelsen plays the main antagonist Jurgen Voller who wants the powerful artifact to correct some mistakes in the past. The Danish actor makes me wish movie theaters would allow subtitles on the screen as some of his English lines, especially the scientific mumbo jumbo, are undecipherable. That’s why his show Hannibal was cancelled because nobody understood what he was saying. (Ok that last part is not true)
