Australia man killed by a crocodile after falling into river

Guy was in the Crocs territory.
If they start marching into people's yards it's fair game .

It's like idiots that get eaten by bears in the woods or people who get eaten by a shark in the water.
They aren't going out of their way to attack you . You're in their kitchen .

Nature is everyone's territory. It's not natural for crocs, bears, or sharks to hunt people. We aren't on their normal menu. But if a specific animal develops a taste for humans they can become a maneater and at that point they are a greater threat than the normal wildlife.

It's so they don't get a taste for human flesh. Lots of packets of takis fuego could have been saved if someone had shot me after I'd tried my first one.
They didnt have a taste for it beforehand. I doubt much will change.

I'm glad I had my Oz trip before I really knew all the deadly critters there. Snakes, sharks, spiders , jellyfish, crocs, spiders , angry Shielas you name it deadliest natural place on earth.

Wish he could have traded places with this idiot.

I don't know who that is. So I'm going to assume it's an old flame...

At the time Steve Irwin died doing his Crocodile Hunter show, there was a similar show with a guy, my memory is telling me was from New Zealand (maybe S.Africa, I just remember the accent) who used to do pretty much the exact same things Steve did. He was a short extremely hairy guy who looked like a slightly taller hobbit.

I recall one episode, he was demonstrating how, if you were desperate and had to cross water with Crocodiles in it, you could, by swimming absolute silent and not splashing. That it is the sound of splashing, more than any other sense, that draws their attention.

He then extremely slowly and without splashing, stepped into the river, where Croc's were clearly visible resting on the far shores, and he swam in a silent manner and got out on the far side, safe.

If it was not staged and was real, then i imagine he had one or more guys with high powered rifles ready to shoot any croc that approached him, based on what we now know about those older nature shows.

No its not.
These animals are operating on opportunities.
Again, you're in their kitchen.

If someone in my family had been ate by a croc I am going to want that animal shot for closure reasons alone. Let alone the potential risk of it eating someone else. Get a clue.
So if someone kills a croc the crocs can roll up to their house and eat them for closure right?

By going into villages etc.
Did they knock first? Wear a disguise maybe?
The real question is who drew first blood?

I guarantee they were just getting payback for one of their homies getting murked.

Guess it works both ways.

Btw I said its fair game if they roll up at your house. How often does that actually happen though?

Great well that's not the case here .
Exactly, they get shot.

It's a fascinating topic how even as old evolutionary animals like Crocs have opportunistic feeding and can change their pattern completely. In Congo they are known to prepare an attack on humans for weeks ,watching f.e. a well were women get water until they have the pattern down and attack.
