At which point does Size triumph over Skill?

Are we talking about LeBron with training or without training?
With a year of training, fully 100% as dedicated as he is to basketball, modern training methods. Also to anyone, I'm fully aware skill will win 99% of the time, I'm a lifelong martial arts fan and just enjoy the thought experiment.

In that case, you're basically asking if a short fighter can beat a tall fighter. That kind of training changes everything.

Here's Maxx Crosby, 6'5", 255lb DE for the LV Raiders admitting, after sparring, Sean Strickland would whip his ass in a street fight.

But we're comparing it to a lifetime of fighting, it would be a shorter pro vs a larger amateur at that point I suppose?

I thought that was a Sasquatch for a moment.
Thr Norwegian on page two is just as impressive to me. That's more where I was going with this thread, what percentage of the time does one of those monsters beat mighty mouse? 1/10? 2/10? The majority of the time the get their knees kicked in or heel hooked, but I'm sure in at least one out of ten or twenty fights, if one of those giants connects...

Wasn't Hackney a TKD or Karate guy? Do you think he has any skills that a giant pro athlete training like a pro fighter for a year wouldn't be able to overcome?

I actually think where the fight happens is the deciding factor. If they're both in clothing that can be grabbed... that's when I see the little guy really getting caught.

The Brock question: Hackney is used to being punched in the face and probably likes it, meanwhile I've seen giant dudes that instantly fold. Grit, the "fighter" mentality, like we've seen in previous David vs Goliath fights. Some guys could spar great and get folded in a real fight, tonnes of x factors contribute. We've seen the NFL "gigaathletes" get absolutely blasted in combat sports.

Yeah... but most of those guys lost to much better fighters than Keith Hackney. (No offense to Keith.)

Minowaman subbed Bob Sapp (that's not say much, though) and Hong Man Choi, and was the Super Hluk Champion.

I can definitely see the argument that the giant has the advantage in for example a bar fight vs the octagon.

I dunno, Josh Watson vs Keith Hackney seems like an absurdly even fight considering the difference in eras lmao

Schilt actually knows how to fight. Lebron is nothing compared to him. Keith would beat Lebron's ass.
No doubt. Also, if Keith sucked up $millions of taxpayer money to start a "School" he would almost be assured ONE student would pass, Unlike Lebron's Failure.

Gracie showed that not only do skills Trump size, but even very skilled guys don't do well if they aren't able to defend certain styles (e.g. Severn).

When one fighter goes up against an equally skillful opponent that is bigger, their chances are less than 50% that the smaller guy wins. If the smaller guy is significantly more skilled, the odds switch to the small guy.

Matchups also have a lot do with it. A smaller guy is more likely to win when their skills and abilities match up well with a big guy's.

lol I don't know which of us is correct, but I think we're remembering Hackney's abilities much differently. I just looked him up and apparently he did train in wrestling, boxing and submission fighting before the UFC so I'll concede the argument.
