Astrophotography shot from last night

You mean longer exposure, right?

What was your 600mm lens?
No, shorter exposure for when I wanted to help limit sensor noise from a long peripd of being charged, and for when I didn't want trails just nice and crisp. Unfortunately my telephoto lens is an F5.6 minimum when fully zoomed so not as much light coming in as would be ideal for short exposures.

Oh and I misremembered my lens' length after not using it in a while, it's a 70-300mm.

@fingercuffs does that last sentence sound unintentionally naughty like yer post the other day?

Ok, but lower focal lengths allow you to get longer exposures with less or no trails and the longer exposures improve the signal to noise.

I use f5.6 or f6 when I shoot.

Yup, I see what you're saying now, and that's true also; I was saying that in terms of getting enough light through to the sensor for a single shot exposure to come out well the shorter lens with the wider aperture can be better for that than my 70-300 with the narrower one.

That's correct too. Find those pics.

Wow... someone revived this thread.

I sucked back then. :)
