You're an absolute moron. Aspinall was the interim champ. The UFC foolishly held out hope of having Jones fight him to unify and paid Aspinall to sit. Read this next part slowly: they didn't offer Aspinall an alternate opponent even though he publicly said he'd fight someone else. I'm not sure how much more simply I can explain that so it sinks in. This is nothing like the Chandler situation where one guy desperately held out hope for the fight while everyone else--INCLUDING THE UFC--shrugged and said "dude we don't think Conor is gonna fight". The UFC didn't offer Aspinall other fights and told him "just wait, we'll make it happen with Jones". Aspinall may not have even believed them but he was getting paid and was gonna be undisputed champ one way or the other and knew it. And look...he is! Chandler sat out years and ended up with nothing. Aspinall pushed his next fight back 6 months and ended up as undisputed champ.
