Askren wrestling an olympic gold medalist at 163 pounds...

Can’t stop the Funk, always liked it when guys didn’t kill them selves to make weight. It takes some serious stones to not cut 15-20 lbs like everyone else.
 
Everyone is desperately trying to find Askren's secret and discredit him but it's not happening
 
Well he is pretty old by MMA standards, but I think he could do a 155 title fight w/ Khabib if he really tried.

He looks like he is 190 +/- a few pounds on fight night, Woodley is around 200 lbs, Rumble was 210+ before cutting at WW so anything is possible
 
Funniest part is he doesn't look like he even gives a F about cutting any weight whatsoever. He comes in rocking the love-handles and doughy look every time. No fux given.
 
Gotta be depressing to lose to a guy who wears Jesus sandals with a suit...

Uncle Dana is allowing this? What if he gets injured kinda bad for business, no?
 
Obviously he can cut the weight, by non-HW standards he's chubby as hell. He chooses not to; all the power to him, that decision seems to have yielded great results. But let's not pretend that having love handles makes him more of a badass than a fighter who's shredded, just because he makes it harder for himself.
 
He just cuts his hair to make weight.

Either Askren has earned some clout due to his impressive social media skills or Dana is hoping he gets a broken neck..
 
He's said in an interview he can't make 155 and 163 is the lowest he will compete at. He said 163 was what he weighed for the Olympics and maintaining that weight was a serious drain on quality of life.

That makes sense. Woodley is going to want to try and take the title back and they won't fight each other.

just because one fighter can cut 40+ lbs doesnt mean another fighter can. People's body respond differently to weight cuts not everyone can deal well with the weigh cuts

One of them going to MW is much more likely. Ben fought at 185 in ONE and there's been talk/rumor of Woodley moving up to 185 as well before. I doubt Ben is going to get outwrestled at 170.

The title jam at 155 is a mess. Moving down doesnt do anything of significance to help his title dreams in the next 18 months
