Fedor, Wanderlei, Shogun and GSP are the 4 fighters responsible for me becoming a hardcore MMA fan.
And it appears Fedor is now on the brink of signing with the UFC.
8 years ago, this would have been exciting news to me. But not now. The heavyweights in the UFC now are just too skilled for Fedor to handle. Back in the day he either fought small heavyweights or big unskilled heavyweights. Now you've got heavyweights who have both size and skill and are far more tactical then a decade ago.
I don't see him winning against any of the top 10 in the division. And I know a lot of people are gonna say "so what, it won't hurt his legacy. It won't effect what he did in his prime." I beg to differ. I think if he goes on a 3-4 fight losing streak, it would hurt his legacy immensely. He would still be the greatest HW of all-time for me, but the general mma fan will for sure start hating on him and calling him overrated. Especially with the casual fans who still haven't heard of him. I feel he should stay fighting in russia and japan and just keep his mystique in tact fighting fringe fighters. I don't want to see Fedor getting dismantled in the UFC. It will truly break my heart.
