As a fighter is Khamzat Chimaev overrated, underrated, as advertised or just a big disappointment?

I'm still hoping he becomes champion, but at this point he's a big disappointment.

He was mismanaged. I like the guy but I honestly think his athletic prime is behind him. The COVID he got seems to have done something to his immune system, he gets sick a lot. Add to that that he can't travel to the US anymore. A real shame cause he was the real deal before that

Well that sucks, if that's true. We only saw a glimpse of hir prime than, unfortunately.

So far he's been as advertised imo, the exception being vs Usman in the later rounds (held back due to an injured hand).
He just keeps marching forward in fights, like we saw when he hunted Burn's head and ditched the gameplan. An all action kind of fighter,
and as he has said, will do everything to get another finish next, as the Usman win didn't lead to a titleshot anyway.

Just a big dissapointment... I liked the guy a lot, he really seemed like he will break out of the typical cliche guys from this area of the world and this cultural background have. He seemed like he really wasnt going to calculate too much, fight often instead of sitting out preferable fights, go up in weight class instead of killing himself to stay below and be a weight bully.

But at the end of the day he turned out exactly like that.

Ill still root for him but with less passion.

only thing i dont like is that he dont fight much

disappointment......... he should have been champ champ by now. the dude mentally doesn't have it.

He will end up as one of the biggest “what ifs” of all time unless he makes some drastic changes. And fast.

Some have speculated that it's overtraining. Everybody has heard that he trains like a madman, yet his gas tank doesn't seem that great so I think that would also make sense. If you overwork yourself it's much easier to get sick. Only time I got covid was because of that same reason.

Guy is obviously very talented to have not lost to the guys he's fought with the amount of experience he's had. Undeniable world class talent.

It makes sense in general but in th case of Khamzat he trained for years at All Stars or whatever the name of that big Swedish team is. He for sure learned how to control the volume of his training. I don't think his coaches didn't teach him that

My supposition is his immune system is messed up

he has the potential to be a dominant champ but his career seems to be going into the wrong direction. as a fighter he is must watch tv.

We haven’t seen enough of him against top guys. Burns and Usman arguably pushed him to his limit, Usman being over the hill. I haven’t seen enough to safely say he’d win at MW and he doesn’t seem to be able to make WW

Very disappointed, so inactive and wasting the best years away.

Always some reason as to why he can't fight. Thousands of interviews and constant tweets, but very little actual fighting.

Can't fight because he is injured
Can't fight because he has a virus/illness
Can't fight because he is busy moving from Sweden too UAE
Can't fight because he can't get a visa

Its always something isn't it.

As advertised plus a big disappointment.
I picked as advertised, and he's been disapointing Lately but I think when he fights he's always exciting and worth watching. He is only disapointing outside of the fight.

Unless he soon makes a massive comeback and run where fights often and becomes champ … then he was just a flash in the pan, coulda, shoulda, woulda.

I don’t know if people appreciate how big of a curve ball Covid can be.

He peaked before covid nearly ended his career. Hasn't looked as invincible since then.
