Arum :"Pacquiao vs. Bradley 3 did between 400-500K buys, not good"

Id be shocked if that does much better than Golovkin did.

Surprised HBO gave up on GGG so quick. 1 PPv and now back to BAD. They should havr keep going with PPV. They could have turned him into one buy selling him as one and that takes time.

If there was any doubt that Canelo is the biggest draw in North American boxing, that debate should be over now. That's a good thing for boxing IMO because he has more good fights ahead of him.

I disagree. You always needs a big name opponent and good promotion to do good numbers no matter what.

Canelo has had two good ppvs, Floyd and Cotto because those guys are star names and people wanted to see that fight.

But his fights with angulo and Lara did 300k only.

If we re counting any 12 month period of time, and apparently we are, then Mayweather from May 3, 2014 to May 3, 2015 would have the most buys.

Unless he doesn't.

But either way, they both destroyed every PPV record in existence this year.

I think switching between ppv and bad is a great move to build his fan base. Also most likely they knew he was going to have several mandatory fights which would be an impossible sell on ppv anyway.

Actually, now that I think about it, I guess Floyd's Maidana 2 and Pac 12-month period is the most ever.

Yep just like canelo vs ggg would do good ppv numbers

Pretty good all things considered...

and more than any Cuban fighter can possibly even dream of achieving in 15 life times.

I dont believe GGG is that unpopular. I think he has more casual fans than Canelo that wouldnt pay for boxing.

I don't think people were predicting much more than that. About what you'd expect them to get at this point.

Decent numbers. It was a fight that didn't have to happen and honestly, I didn't mind watching it at all.

That being said PPV is getting to be a near impossible model to accurately gauge interest. They are simply behind the times in how to get people to watch the fight. I appreciate some of the decent under cards that are being tried lately, but PPV costs are too high when a surprising number people will just watch it illegally. There were a couple people I know that simply don't know how to watch (it's not on - even reruns - on cable like it was as much before) or which fighters are worth following because there is no publicity.

Boxing is a fractured sport that needs to get its shit together if it wants people to get involved.

Yeah, a bit. After a decade of popularity. But he sold almost 5 million PPVs this year.

That is more PPVs this year than anybody has ever sold in the history of PPV, depending on the exact number. His only competition is Floyd.

Don't think we'll ever see a number that high again, or at least for quite some time. Really was the perfect mix of a lot of factors combining into one mega event.

I honestly think Mayweather-Pacquiao at $100 left a bad taste in the mouth of most people who bought it, hence weak boxing PPV sales after. Canelo-Cotto really should have made close to a million PPV's but it didn't.

I expected around 450 k. Good numbers considering how little work went into promoting it. PPV just isn't a thing right now. Golovkin can't sell 200k and everyone likes him, Canelo probably won't do more than 500k either.

There was really no opponent who was going to help Pac do bigger numbers. No one was lining up to see Terrence Crawford either.

PPV can be a thing, just need the right fighters, the right match ups and the right promotion really.

That's gonna bomb, MM territory. Unfortunate for a talent like Crawford, not his fault really.
Even with the rumored JCC SR vs Roberto Duran on the undercard, nobody is gonna pay to watch that.

It might to better than Adamek/Molina and Mosley/Mayorga 2

The official number was 900K and it did the 13th highest gate in Vegas history. It was a very lucrative fight.

Whoa. I thought it made only 650k in PPV sales? There was a thread a while back about it that claimed so.
